I am hoping someone out here can help me. My room mate's computer was recently murdered by a virus. All the files are gone and the whole thing is a mess to turn on. It gets to the desktop, and you can run things that get plugged into it, but otherwise, it's unusable. She left her windows xp cds in Japan, and so we went and got Windows 7, whatever, it's better anyway. Only later did we realize that her computer, a netbook, does not have an cd drive. Since we had the tangible discs in hand and no external cd drive, I created an .iso from the discs and then followed these instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/installing-windows-7-on-a-netbook for the USB. It works fine, I run a custom installation, yadda yadda. The trouble starts when I get to the screen that should be asking me where on the computer I want to install 7 onto. I get the error: 'Device Driver not found' and cannot do anything further. Why is this and how do I fix it? Is it my .iso? Is that corrupted? Please keep in mind that I cannot change the set up in the BIOS because the key to save the changes doesn't exist on her keyboard. (You have to press 'end' to save changes, it's not there). So I cannot actually change the boot order. We want to leave for our last resort the tech shop to ask for help. 100$? Are you kidding me?
Operating System, Version and Service Pack: Windows XP, not sure of Service Pack, cannot check. Want to upgrade to 7.
Web Browser and Version: Irrelevant.
Your level of experience (we simplify or explain instructions based on how you answer): Probably intermediate but explaining things slowly would be cool.
When did the problem start? Has it been going on constantly since then? N/A
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot? Google, but that is not helping.

Question/Problem: Laptop won't read camera card (SD card) when it has in the past. I put it in the drive and it just does nothing & doesn't show up in My Computer at all.
Operating System, Version and Service Pack: Windows Vista; HP Pavilion dv2700 Notebook PC; Service pack 2
Web Browser and Version: Firefox 3.6.3. (although I don't think that's relevant to this issue)
Your level of experience: Intermediate/Seasoned
When did the problem start? Has it been going on constantly since then? Several weeks ago; I've had the computer for a while and it's always been fine, and the card works in the camera and in other computers (i.e., my roommate's). It just won't read in this one, and I haven't had any other problems.
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot? Endless Googling and searches in the help section; I tried Control Panel > Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers and other things like that, but nothing's doing it. :P Please help!
Question/Problem:Ok so my computer keeps restarting-first it'll start normally going through the safe mode screen then the windows start-up. But then it'll go black then loop back into the safe mode option screen. I think it's a power drive problem but I'm not certain and want to make sure it is before I buy a new one. If it's not and if I have to reinstall my operating system I want to make sure it's that, because I don't want to lose all my data (failed to make a back-up of my files).
Operating System, Version and Service Pack: Windows XP
Web Browser and Version: I have most of them but I mainly use firefox

When did the problem start? Has it been going on constantly since then? The problem first started this morning. Yes.
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot? I was able to go into system recovery and scan all the drivers and hardware, and they all passed. Also I've tried safe mode and it would just black out and continue to loop as well.

Question/Problem: I recently got a new computer as well as Photoshop CS4. And when I use my Wacom tablet(Intuos 2) in CS4 every time I put my pen to the tablet the brush icon on screen lags behind the action by about a second, and when it moves it always ‘jerks’ into movement.
Operating System, Version and Service Pack: Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1

When did the problem start? Has it been going on constantly since then?: The problem has been there from when I installed Photoshop CS4.
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot?: The Wacom is an Intuos 2, I’ve updated its drivers online and am also using Photoshop 7 as well as Painter X on this computer and neither have the jerk-lag problem that CS4 has. I’m thinking it’s a conflict between the driver and CS4 but am unsure. I’ve allotted 5GB’s of RAM for Photoshop CS4 to use. I’ve tried both less and more to see if this makes any difference and allotting it more has not fixed the issue.
The OS I’m using is 64bit, and I’m also running the 64bit version of CS4. Hardware wise, I’ve got an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, 8GB’s of RAM and over 500GB’s free space on a 700GB hard drive.
I’m also using a NVIDIA Geforce 9500 GS graphics card which I’ve read may have problems with CS4’s GPU and OpenGL features, but I’ve made sure all the drivers for that are updated too(the driver version I have is- 7.15.11.7556) and disabling the GPU and OpenGL features in CS4 made no difference either.
… basically I don’t know what else to do. Any ideas/help would really be appreciated.
Question/Problem: About a week ago my RealTek sound card stopped working, apparently there was a problem with the driver. I deinstalled the sound card and tried to reinstall the drivers. Everything seems to work properly until when the process bar has reach the end, Windows notifies me of a CRC error.
Operating System and VERSION: Windows XP
Web Browser and VERSION: FireFox 3.0.1

Duration of problem: About a week
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot? I tried to reinstall the driver from various sources (online and the original CD-rom that came with the notebook). I also tried a system restore, to no avail.
I have a built-in sound card, and I recently had to wipe my hard-drive and install a new OS (went from Linux to Windows 2000 Pro SP3). Linux had no problem identifying the built-in sound card on its own and getting the driver, as it worked from day one on that OS, but now that I'm on Windows 2000 Pro SP3 (which I have to be for now, for numerous reasons), the driver doesn't work; under the "Sounds and Multimedia Properties" in the control panel, the Audio tab, it has "No Playback Devices" under "Sound Playback Preferred Device," which sounds to me like I don't even have a driver installed. This computer was given to me, and I have no idea what the sound card is. What I do know is that it's:
This I got from the properties of My Computer. Also when it first boots up, it has an Apex logo (which goes away when it loads Windows).
Anyone know what kind of sound card I've got here, and where I can get a driver for it? Or am I stuck picking up a new sound card?
I'm using the latest Mozilla Firefox browser (can't get any sound on youtube, either), and for right now I just have the basic windows media player, but I plan on getting Quintessential Music Player, and a new video player here soonly.
I got a printer from my boyfriend, which is still in good really condition and its HP, like the rest of my computer.
However, i hooked it up and it uploaded everything and printed out a paper i needed. Now, it won't.. i went to Microsft Windows web site and it told me to create a printer and such.. i did that, and it still isnt working.
I have Windows Vista and i heard you needed to upload a driver for it, which i thought i did?
PROBLEM: Trying to figure out what the fuck is up with my internet connection. Again.
We have two computers; mine is a desktop connected directly through a cable to a wireless router, which is (obviously) plugged into the modem. My SO connects via said router to the wireless card in HIS desktop.
The issue was sporadic at first. It would go down every 2 minutes or so. It would give me the error message "a network cable is unplugged", but if I power cycled everything (router and modem) it would work again. For another 2 minutes.
So, I called the cable company who insisted that the error tells them it's a problem with either my router, or a cable connected from it. Okay. I'm inclined to see the wisdom in that. I even plugged MY computer directly into the modem, which seemed to solve the issue, so...yeah. Router.
I went and bought another router ($70 a pop) and used the cables that came in the box, killing what should have been two birds with one stone. And the issue continued to happen. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. If it's going to keep doing this shit with new-out-of-the-box equipment, that couldn't be the issue. I was going to return it and get my money back. Which I did.
I plugged in the old router a couple hours later and our connection is FINE again. Stable as the day is long, no issues. For about two weeks.
Today, it starts happening again. It drops signal every couple of minutes, but if I plug my computer directly into the modem, it works fine. Cable company again insists there is no issue on their end so it has to be us.
My SO also noticed today that every time this shit happens, the digital cable says "no data available" when it usually tells us what show is on and gives us a small blurb about what it's about. Connected? I don't know.
I need ideas and thoughts, because this is weird and I'm confused.
Operating System and VERSION: XP Home, Version 2002, Service pack 2
Web Browser and VERSION: Firefox and IE, this question really doesn't apply to the problem.
Your level of experience: An unused(2002) Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems Tech. Technology has changed A LOT since then, so I know more than the average bear, but I'm not God.
Duration of problem: Sporadically about three weeks total.
Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot?: Detailed in the above. Replaced the router and cables, plugged directly into the modem to test connection.
EDIT TO ADD: We went out for about four hours and came back to find that our connection had died totally. My computer was plugged directly into the modem, with no router involvement. So I restarted everything and hooked the router back up.
I've been online without any disconnection for about three hours now.

Did you ever find a program, I am in the same boat at the moment, although I have managed to intercept the MCL data stream and trying to code for this.
