DAY 44 | Hour 10:00
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
Good morning all. For those of you who have just joined us, welcome: my name is Sturmhond, as you can see. I trust you’ve all recovered from your arrival. Awful business, all of that.
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
In the spirit lifting the mood, I have a proposition for you. Those of you who were here before will remember the training bullets I made, full of paint. Some of you spoke of a game from Earth, called Paintball.
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
Who among you would like to play? Consider this a formal challenge. The Instructors have graciously agreed to give us the run of the place, with a few areas excepted, of course.
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
You’ll be in teams of two. If you know how to shoot, you’ll be paired with someone who doesn’t. We’re still training, after all. There’s prizes involved, so good teamwork is encouraged.
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
Oh, and one more thing – the dress code will be formal, if you please. If we’re going to play at war, we might as well be fashionable about it.
[ ooc: This is an IC sign-up for the Paintball event! OOC sign-ups are here – there’s still time to add a team, if you haven’t already. The log for this will go live on Friday 19 September. ]

MY DRESS IS PRETTY AND YOU'RE TELLING ME I HAVE TO GET PAINT ON IT? FUCK YOU!

In part, yes. It's also meant to train the inexperienced. Better to learn on a field like this than during an actual battle.

It seems this could be a useful training exercise. I am interested.
no subject
Excellent, I’ll make note of that. You could quite ably support an amateur, I imagine.
no subject
Well, if it's just paint.
[ He's still sort of ehh on the guns bit, do-or-die scenarios aside, but that's probably why he ought to just take the plunge. ]
no subject
Still. It’s a step in the right direction. ]
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
Just paint, I assure you. They’re perfectly safe. You never know. You might be glad you had the practice, one of these days.

Quite the contrary. There’s little point in my teaching you if you’re never going to use the skills. I’d like to see how well you’ve learned.

TO: sturmhond@cdc.org
great idea. ballroom dance, formal wear paintball party, fun. so much fun. appropriate to boot. [ Please read this in the most monotone, sarcastic voice you can muster. He gets to whine about her using the network to get info on what's going down, but then he announces a paintball contest in the middle of a planet destroying mission.
She dislikes you greatly, Sturmee. ]
no subject
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
I can’t actually do anything about the dancing. Feel free to avoid it, or run screaming in the other direction. Whichever you deem appropriate at the time.
[ He doesn’t like balls either. He can put up with them when he has to, though. ]
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
You might want to enlighten me on what’s inappropriate about training, however. There’s plenty here who could use the practice. Including you, I imagine.
