Day 44 | Hour 12:00
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
TO: ALL
Got an errand to run, up toward the northwest. Looking for a few people to go with. Leaning toward it being dangerous; don't volunteer if you can't fight.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
We'll be going tomorrow, day 45. Let me know if you're interested. Can't promise I'll take everyone who signs up.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
...Assuming people sign up. What's the human saying? Assuming makes asses out of us, or something. So yeah. Reply if you're interested.
[[ooc note: comments are still welcome, but volunteering spots are full.]]

What kind of errand?
no subject
I've got a direction as to where whatever attacked the camp with body parts came from. It's not much, but I'd like to check it out.
no subject
You're serious?
[ This is the first time anyone's had any kind of idea. He'd thought it was a dead end, that there was nothing more they could do.
But if there is. If there's even a chance- ]
FROM: dartagnan@cdc.org
I want to come. I don't care if it's not much, we owe it to those people to find out what happened. I'll volunteer.

People pay you?
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
More seriously, do you think you can be an asset in a fight?

Shapeshifting could be handy. Don't really know what we're headed into, but we're gonna see what we can find as far as whatever dropped some body parts on us not too long ago.

I'll do what I can. If there's even a small chance we could learn something, I'll help

What kind of errand are we talking about?
[Dangerous sounds...dangerous.]

Chasing after clues about who it was that dropped body parts of some of the recruits on us a couple of weeks back. Before you got here, pretty sure.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
Could wind up with just clues, could wind up in the middle of a group that wants us dead and is capable, could wind up with nothing.

Ass out of U and Me. Is the phrase you were looking for.
no subject
Damn. Now I get it. It relies on Earth words and spellings. Sometimes I think other species need to come with handbooks.
no subject
That would take all the fun out of getting to know one another.
Take knives.

Can't promise you much extra firepower here, but if you think a little defense could help I can at least offer that?
FROM: farrow.ryan@cdc.org
I can sense things when they're around, give you a heads-up on that if they're not visible. Could avoid some trouble.
no subject
We might be attacked by things that have killed other recruits. Your avoidance of lethal force gonna be a problem when it comes to defending you and the rest of the team?

Yep.
[He lets a few moments pass for his own amusement before sending another text.]
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
More like I wanted people to know there's a lot of risk and maybe not a lot of outcome. And I don't have a lot of info myself.

Think that's the first time I've heard "dangerous" and "errand" used in the same sentence. So I guess we're not buying milk.
no subject
Your errands must be boring. We go armed to our grocery stores. Never know when Cerberus is gonna attack next, after all.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
Tell you what. We find a shop out there, we can see if they carry milk.

FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
More seriously, talked to Gliese about the recruits who got torn up and dropped on the camp. She says the CDC's got a lot of enemies so she doesn't know which could've done this, but she said the breeze that brought these came from the NW.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
It's not much of a lead, but it's more than anything else. The errand is to look for info. Don't really want to engage them, if they're there and we even find them, but I'm looking for people who can fight if we have to.
FROM: vakarian.garrus@cdc.org
