Seems we're uncomfortably wedged somewhere between the climax and the denouement of The Mist.
Which is a novella turned movie, by the way. If you don't know it, I wouldn't recommend looking it up right now.

Anyway, this fog stretches pretty damn high. In the sense that I didn't know fog had the capacity to dream big and reach for the stars, but there it fucking is.

Did anyone get a closer look at the light show by the statue?
[Sending this out to everyone for a wide pool of potential answers. Yeah, he was outside. Don't judge.]

action!
You shouldn't be out here.

Neither should you, no offense. [He looks at Roxy.] Oh, yeah. Roxy, this is Michelle. Michelle, this is Roxy.

Tbh we're safer up here than you are. You have like no superpowers, right?

I thought it was a lightning storm. But whatever it was, I can't go anywhere today without getting shocked, it's ridiculous.
FROM: dartagnan@cdc.org
Did the statue move, or is that my imagination?
no subject
Looked like lightening, though it didn't exactly behave like it. The static's an interesting touch, I'd make some ESD materials if I had the right shit to work with.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
Guess you'll have to deal with getting mother nature's saucy rump pinch for a bit.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
And I'm pretty sure it moved. That hunk of stone could be a lot of things, but I'll be impressed if it turns out to be the universe's greatest tableau vivant.

FROM: dartagnan@cdc.org
You'd make some what?
FROM: dartagnan@cdc.org
Its hands are different. I'm sure of it. Not that it makes it look any better, it's still generally awful. But it's different.
FROM: dartagnan@cdc.org
If that wasn't a storm what do you think it was?
no subject
Electrostatic discharge materials, they basically protect against that shock you're getting.
You could try rolling in the snow, though.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
Yeah, I haven't gotten a closer look, but you're probably right.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
I don't really think anything right now, too many missing pieces.
[Kind of not entirely true, he has thoughts, he's just not into sharing them without more details.]

The statue looked like a lightning rod for a moment. [The most amazing thing here is that Hanbei actually knows what a lightning conductor is.]
FROM: takenaka.hanbei@cdc.org
But it probably isn't a very good one, because I can't even sleep well with the blankets making my hair stand on end.
no subject
It could also be the most bomb-ass lighting conductor this side of the known universe and the voltage was just that high.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
Try sleeping in the shower.
no subject
FROM: takenaka.hanbei@cdc.org
That could be true. There was a lot of lightning bolts. Actually, now that I think of it, did the statue move a bit between the flashes?
FROM: takenaka.hanbei@cdc.org
You try that first and report back to me on how it feels.
no subject
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
A bit, yeah. The hands shifted.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
I have before, it's alright. Point is, your ass won't get assaulted by static in there.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
Unless the CDC doesn't design showers with insulators to stop recruits from being electrocuted while partaking in their daily ablutions. That would be offensively criminal.

FROM: benjamin.jonathan@cdc.org
No, because the rest of us aren't mentally unwell enough to walk outside during a lightning storm.
no subject
Actually, I'm flying. But it's cool, Roxy and I implemented the buddy system.

FROM: benjamin.jonathan@cdc.org
Did you wrap your entire body in metal before going out too?
no subject
That would be just plain unintelligent, Jack.

How would they seeing as we're pretty much locked down
[ just another thing to wonder over, like a bunch of rats in a trap... what else is new. ]
no subject
Doors aren't locked, bro. Steeping outside's just a daring thought away.
no subject
Are people hanging out by the statue in this mess
Doesn't seem wise
Seems nigh time to get eaten by winged monsters
no subject
I think we've got different definitions of wisdom. But it is risky, I'll give you that.

It's nice to know that some things don't change, like Striders 8eing idiots.

I have 8een kind of preoccupied, so I didn't see anything!
03
And for a while I was convinced I even imagined hearing it. ::::/

That's a matter of opinion, but sure.
FROM: strider.dirk@cdc.org
Preoccupied with what? That shit was loud and came with a minor vibrations bonus.
