Day 85 | 09:00
[ So, as it turns out, the new rovers aren't quite big enough to house the bahari. Not the big ones, anyway, which leaves Sturmhond with something of a problem.
He'll go ahead and assume everyone is awake and ready to go at this hour. It's been three since the materials arrived already; why would anyone still be asleep? ]

Would any among you have any scrap metal you could spare? I'm looking to add a box, to the roof of my rover.

If you have any I can take off your hands, name your price. I'll take whatever I can get.

I have scrap laying around that I'm quite happy to part with.
In return, I'm looking for any leafy vegetables for this picky second mouth I need to feed.
no subject
He might know someone who does, though. ]
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
Leafy vegetables. I'll see what I can do and get back to you. How much do you have?
[ He sends that. Then he reads the message again, and rapidly sends a second: ]
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
What picky mouth, Hope?!
no subject
FROM: estheim.hope@cdc.org
The picky mouth attached to my full-grown chocobo. It's a creature from my world that suddenly decided to appear in the middle of the night a few days ago.
FROM: estheim.hope@cdc.org
But to answer your question about 2kg worth of scrap.
no subject
More creatures appearing out of nowhere. That's become a habit here.
[ He doesn't like it.
Also, he's talking to David. It seems Grey team are having issues with dogs, so he's negotiating. He will be right with you, Hope. ]
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
I take it they're not dangerous?
no subject
It does seem to be quite the popular occurrence as of late.
FROM: estheim.hope@cdc.org
Usually, not dangerous at all. She could fight if needed but they're docile creatures overall. It helps that she seems to have been very well trained.
no subject
Well, so long as you're happy. That's a far nicer appearance than a wild herd of elk.
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
As to your offer. I don't have leafy vegetables, but David will trade me some of his. If you're still willing, that is.
no subject
I certainly can't complain. It could have easily been a far worse creature.
FROM: estheim.hope@cdc.org
That sounds perfectly fine then, feel free to take as much as you'd like too.

I may have something of use in my many piles of things.
no subject
Ah, I should have known. You're quite handy yourself, Isha. Is there any you don't need?
no subject
I might have some scrap metal and unused knives. Most of it is raw material.
[She doesn't much mention that it was all Peter's from so many months ago. She'd never had a use for it.]
no subject
Well, if you're willing to part with it, I can put it to good use.
[ Honestly, he doesn't care where she got it from. It's Isha; she could have come across it anywhere. What he doesn't ask won't trouble him later. ]
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
What's your price?
no subject
A favor of equal value. I don't accept lesser, but I won't be opposed to greater value.
no subject
I don't surprise you have a favour in mind, do you?

If you need someone to do heavy lifting, I'll help.
no subject
Actually, that would be a great help. I've rigged up a pulley, but that's a lengthy method. You have time?
no subject
I have time.
no subject
I'd appreciate it, then. I'm on Hangar Deck 2, with the rovers. Though perhaps you guessed that already.
no subject
I'll be there shortly.
no subject
I'll be glad to see you.

We're looking to do the same for Ringo. The only time he hasn't spent his night snoring on our rover or room floor was when they took a group vacation back on Ajna.
no subject
That's the same with Korol. They're strong enough that I imagine they could probably survive without it - I know the others did, on Gliese's rover.
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
But I can't warm to that. Perhaps I'm going soft.
no subject
I wouldn't make Topher sleep on the roof, why would I make Ringo? [ aka yes he feels you, and fuck you, we're not going soft, bahari are just awesome. ]
FROM: benjamin.jonathan@cdc.org
None of us would get any sleep besides, with how much he'd be likely to whine.
no subject
No, that's true. Definitely don't put Topher on the roof, none of us need to hear that.
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
Do you have enough material for what you need?
no subject
We're still looking. Topher's trying to engineer a way to make it work, but I'm thinking it'll largely depend on what resources we end up with.
FROM: benjamin.jonathan@cdc.org
Would have been nice if they put a collapsible kennel into our little DIY Rover packets.
no subject
Gliese doesn't seem to use them. Maybe they weren't thought to be needed.
[ But he can't do that to Korol. The bahari has wildness in him; he hunts, he's aggressive, he'd probably go around biting every stranger if Sturmhond hadn't trained it out of him. But he's also been domesticated since birth. Throwing him out in the wild after that just wouldn't feel right. ]
FROM: sturmhond@cdc.org
I think it'll work. It's a big roof.
What are you doing for supplies, with that weight limit?
[ Meaning, are you bringing a bulk of meat for Ringo or relying on hunting later? That's another problem to sort out, once the rovers are built. ]
