Well, that wasn't how I was planning on spending my Friday night.

Apart from fanfic, I've deleted all entries from [livejournal.com profile] ctorres, and I will not be crossposting entries to there from Dreamwidth in the future. I will continue to read my LJ flist, but when LJ characterized a bug that allowed users to see other users' locked posts and inbox as having "no effect on security", they lost the last bit of my trust.

If I'm not following you on Dreamwidth and you'd like me to, let me know, please. And if anyone needs an invite code, I've got several.

I was experimenting earlier and accidentally wiped out the custom CSS for my journal - all two lines of it. It took longer than I care to admit to locate the posts where I'd gotten it from in the first place, so I'm posting it here for posterity.

From [personal profile] sophie and [site community profile] dw_nifty, here...
// put a dashed line around expanded in-line cuts
.cuttag-open {
  border: 1px dashed #008800;
  margin: 0.5em;
  padding: 0.5em;
}

And from [personal profile] qilin and [site community profile] dw_nifty again, here...

// keep a person's entries from appearing on my network page.
.page-network .entry-wrapper+.journal-USERNAME { display: none; }

Note that that's the network page, not reading page, although if you substitute .page-read for .page-network, you can do that instead. Although in that case, it might be faster just to unsubscribe from them.

Flist trimming: I did a friends cut just now of people who I don't seem to have much in common with any longer and people who never post. If I cut you in error, speak up and I'll fix it. If you've been hanging on and nut cutting me out of politeness, here's your chance. Really, every day is your chance - my feelings aren't easily hurt - but here's your explicit invitation should you need one.

Commenting: I'm re-enabling comments on LJ for locked posts. Most of my locked posts are also custom-filtered, and it turns out that keeping the filters up to date on two sites is harder for me than staying caught up on two sets of comments. If I've accidentally posted something that you couldn't comment on because I screwed up my filters again, I apologize.

Filters, Filters, Filters: And speaking of, this seems like a good time to take people on or off filters. I have three open filters that I use for custom-locked posts:

• Snark. Doesn't get used often, but it's there.
• Migraine and other health issues.
• Bitching about work. I can't add locals to this one, for student privacy reasons.

If you want to be moved on or off a filter, speak up and I shall comply. If you're happy where you are, there you will stay.

[This post really only pertains to people reading on LJ, but I've posted it here too for completeness.]

I've been using Dreamwidth for nine or ten weeks now, so I've had plenty of time to form opinions and figure out new habits and such. I've settled into a routine where I'm crossposting everything, keeping up on my LJ friendslist as much as I ever did, and commenting as much as I ever did. In other words, I haven't left, and I have no intention of doing so.

The only thing that's changed is that I'm having a hard time keeping up with two sets of comments. Since Dreamwidth just handed out a whole bunch of new invite codes, now seems like a good time to do something about it. Starting with the post after this one, I'm going to be disabling comments on LiveJournal and redirecting them to Dreamwidth.

I'll still crosspost everything, so if you do your reading here, you won't miss anything. If you don't have a Dreamwidth account and don't want one, commenting with OpenID over there is really easy. (Ask me how!) If you don't have an account and do want one, I have tons of invite codes right now. If neither of those work for you, I have anonymous commenting turned on over there.

1) No, I haven't forgotten about the photo meme, all evidence to the contrary.

2a) So along with the new phone came a data package, and as a result I'm now on Twitter as CaitrinT. So far I've been using it... irregularly, but I'm getting better. If you're on Twitter, let me know who you are so that I can follow you.

2b) Confidential to a small handful of you: yes, I changed my username.

2c) One of the items on my to-do list for this weekend is to get LoudTwitter working. My current plan is to make the posts private to avoid annoying everyone. Is there anyone who wants to read them? I can set it to a custom filter instead, I think.

2c) Nope, can't yet email post to a custom friends group on Dreamwidth. Posting privately it is.

2c) Hmm... or maybe you can. I'll play with it later. Original offer stands - does anyone care enough that I should use a filter rather than making posts private?

I have a Dreamwidth account! I'm so excited.

I plan to import my LJ ([livejournal.com profile] ctorres) as soon as I have time to read about the import tool. Depending on whether homework's urgency or tediousness wins out, this could be any time from "very soon" to "after finals". Once the journal is imported, I'll be crossposting entries to both sites. Meanwhile, this is a placeholder entry so that I'll have at least some content here.

If I'm just meeting you for the first time and for some reason you think I'm interesting, go ahead and say hi and add me if you'd like. New friends are always good.

I spent last night and this afternoon friends-locking the majority of my past entries here. This was already brewing, but LJ's new notification features didn't help the situation. There's a difference between someone I've never heard of being able to read a post and that same person being able to maintain a full record of everything that happens in that post with one click of a button, and it's creepy.

So:

Fic posts and drabbles are and will continue to be public. Ficathon pimping, recs, and other public service announcements will also be public. If you're a lurker and that's all you're here for, you're good to go. I may unlock more fannish posts in the future, but for now, see above re: already brewing.

Otherwise, leave me a comment and introduce yourself. (Hint: "add me!" is not by itself an introduction.) I'm easy. I just like knowing who's here.

Now I just have to get a spiffy banner and I'll be all set.

ETA: No, this isn't a sneaky way to announce a friends cut. Promise.
