myself
I'm Tabetha (also known as Divinitus, PaintedTeacherLady, and TheTeacherLady - on various other internet places). Lambton County is the estimated area of my current residence, which is in Southwestern Ontario. I'm about 30 minutes from Port Huron, MI and 90 minutes from Detroit, MI.
26 years ago I was first born in a series of four children. My parents and I have a love/hate relationship, which has been getting better now that I'm an adult and moved on with life. I have a Bachelor of Arts (English and Fine Art), as well as a Bachelor of Education, and a Specialist Certification in Special Education.
Currently, I am the resource teacher at a small, rural elementary school for the Lambton Kent District School Board. As I have been in the profession for four years (since I was 23), I spent my first two years at the local high school (English and Art) and spent last year supply teaching for the school board. I am still trying to find a permanent job with the school board.
Some things that I enjoy doing are: baking, cooking, painting, reading, cleaning, gaming, and organizing. Sometimes I am a bit of a nut, especially when the cleaning and organizing take over my life.

husband
I met my husband at the end of my grade 12 year of high school (2002). He was in grade 13 (OAC, for those that know the old-school Ontario curriculum) and was graduating. He was moving seven hours north to North Bay to go to Nipissing University for a Bachelor of Arts in History and Fine Art and completing his Bachelor of Education.
It was not love at first sight - hey, I'm being honest. He's the type of person that grows on you... no, not like an infectious disease. He has a severe case of Excema that has and is taking its toll on his skin, particularly around the arms, neck and face. My husband is also allergic to the following: shellfish and seafood, eggs, gluten & wheat, milk, dust, pollen, etc. Needless to say that getting to know him was interesting and somewhat exhausting.
We dated for the summer of 2002 and mutually broke up so that he could go to University with no ties back home. That didn't last long. Two months later we were back together, or what really happened is that we decided we never really broke up.
I graduated in 2003 and decided to go to the same university as him, although it came with a lot of flack from my family and his. I lived in residence for a year and we moved in together, with another roommate, for three years.
During our last year (teacher's college year), my husband proposed on March 11th in an elaborate scheme that had been in the works for months. He held a surprise birthday party at a mutual friend's house, and I drove there from visiting a friend in Toronto. However, he did not count on my Grandfather dying the same day.
We were engaged for a year and a bit, and finally were married on August 23rd, 2008. It was a wonderful day that I will never forget. The honeymoon was postponed until December break, when we both went on a tour of Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Slovak, Hungary, Austria).
We're still together, and I still love him - although it varies from day to day the exact amount of love. He's a smart guy and enjoys PC and Wii gaming, as well as reading, and participating in Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer at the local comic book store. I love geeks!

cat
My husband and I own a siamese tabby-point named Zelda. She's is turning four years old, and we've had her for three of those years. In December of 2007, my husband and I decided to go to our local Humane Society to look into the expense of adopting a cat. In the car we discussed what we might be looking for in a cat: gender, age, colour, etc. We were not expecting to be purchasing a cat that day. However, we walked in and looked through three cat rooms. It was heartbreaking, and I was sad I could not adopt them all.
After looking, I finally asked one of the volunteers which cat had been there the longest. She directed us to "Elizabeth", this quiet, bright blue-eye siamese tabby-point. She had been affected by frostbite, which had claimed 40% of her ears, and 20% of her tail - although it suits her. I was astonished that she had been there for over six weeks! The story was that Elizabeth had kittens, and of course the kittens were the first to go and no one wanted the mother. Needless to say we purchased her - and it was funny, as when we signed the papers and paid they mentioned that she loves to cuddle. I smiled and said it was good to know. The lady looked confused, and asked if we had actually touched the cat we had just adopted. Nope! We never took her out of the cage!
Zelda is content as an only-cat and enjoyed ruling the house. She sleeps at the end of our bed, on my side, every night. Of course she drives my husband insane, as she constantly wakes him up at 6:45 every morning to be fed, then returns to bed to sleep with me without having eaten a morsel. Everyone she has met has commented on how beautiful our cat is, and that Zelda is quite the social beast. She believes she is people, often sitting on chairs to get in on the conversations. My family in pariticular has grown accustom to Zelda - my Grandmother especially. She often babysits our cat and does not like to be parted from her for long periods of time.

I don't post pictures often; however, this picture seems to capture the relationship my husband and I have. Hubby's friend was playing around with his new camera and backdrop.
