Frequently Asked Questions

Running a fleet comes with plenty of moving parts. Our FAQ page brings together the answers to the most common questions we hear from fleet leaders and drivers—covering everything from building a custom driver app with Eleos to integrating with your existing systems.

With more than a decade in the mobile app business, Eleos has developed a platform that provides all of the core components trucking fleets need to build customized mobile apps for their drivers.

These flexible components are highly customizable and provide the building blocks fleets need to tailor a mobile experience for their unique needs. Components include driver workflow, document scanning, messaging, forms, access to pay details, news feeds, media libraries, assignable tasks, trip planning,  turn-by-turn navigation, and more.

Fleets build their driver apps by assembling pre-built components, so no mobile development is needed. The only development involved is connecting those components to back-end systems through web services and database calls. Fleets with internal technical teams can manage this integration themselves, and those without can work with Eleos Certified Integrators for implementation and ongoing support.

Yes! Workflows are at the core of the Eleos platform, and fleets can create unlimited workflows tailored to the needs of a specific customer, cargo type, equipment, or even an individual driver. These workflows can advance automatically based on driver activities and conditional logic tied to previous actions, and they can be implemented at the individual load or stop level, giving fleets fine-grained control over every step of the driver’s experience.

Absolutely! Eleos works with Certified Integrators who have built integrations not only for the well-known TMS and ELD systems, but also for many lesser-known platforms. Beyond TMS and ELD, Eleos integrates with a wide range of technologies, including maintenance systems, document management systems, training tools, and HR/payroll platforms. Eleos provides an open platform that can integrate with any system through APIs or direct database access. Here are just a few of the industry leaders we integrate with: TMW Suite, TruckMate, Innovative IES, McLeod’s LoadMaster, Prophesy Dispatch, Geotab, Samsara, Platform Science, ORBCOMM, Zonar, Transflo, Vector, Drivewyze, PrePass, CoPilot, etc.  Please refer to the Eleos integration page for a more thorough, but not exhaustive listing. https://eleostech.com/partner-network

The Eleos platform provides intuitive scanning that lets drivers quickly capture and submit documents and other images. Automatic image enhancement sharpens text, adjusts contrast, and removes shadows to improve legibility. Document scanning can also be combined with forms to capture required metadata, assist with document type identification, collect signatures, and more.

With the Eleos platform, fleets can equip drivers with comprehensive trip-planning tools. Drivers can access detailed manifests and load information, view route overviews and real-time weather information. HOS integration shows drivers where their hours of service (HOS) will expire along their route and built-in points of interest (POIs) help drivers plan ideal stopping points. Fleets can also upload their own custom POIs for terminals, warehouses, yards, fueling locations, maintenance facilities, and more. In addition, drivers can switch between map and satellite views to pinpoint facility entrances, exits, docks, and yard layouts.

Yes, the Eleos platform includes robust truck-safe, truck-legal turn-by-turn navigation as part of its standard offering. In addition, web-based tools show fleets the routes that are served up to drivers within the mobile app, and provide detailed insights into driver’s routing activity.

Eleos provides fleets with multiple channels to communicate with drivers, and to enable drivers to communicate back. Fleets can segment messages by groups, tenure or any other custom criteria. Communication can be delivered through in-app news feeds, real-time chat messaging, and structured form-based messaging, whether for workflow-driven exchanges or simple information exchange. These messaging capabilities can be integrated with a fleet’s TMS, email systems, or other back-office tools to streamline operations and ensure messages flow where they’re needed. Eleos also includes a web-based messaging console that allows office staff to communicate directly. Together, these tools give fleets a flexible, reliable communication hub that keeps everyone aligned and informed.

A custom driver app can significantly improve the driver experience and make drivers more efficient by giving them a single, streamlined place to handle the tasks they perform every day. Instead of juggling multiple apps, drivers get an app tailored to their processes, whether that’s trip planning, document scanning, messaging, task management, or workflow related to executing loads. Fleet-specific tools, custom forms, and integrated data from systems like the TMS or telematics platform eliminate unnecessary steps, reduce confusion, and cut down on time spent searching for information. A well-designed driver app also improves communication, provides clearer instructions, and reduces errors, all of which help drivers stay productive, safe, and focused on the road.

Fleets can integrate payroll systems like ADP and Workday into Eleos, allowing drivers to view their pay details directly in the app. Fleets maintain full control over what information is shown, so drivers see only the pay data that’s appropriate for them. This gives drivers convenient self-service access from anywhere and reduces calls to dispatch.

Yes. Eleos driver apps run on both iOS and Android phones and tablets. Many fleets permit drivers to use the app on their personal devices, as well as company-managed devices – others choose to restrict access to managed devices only. Apps can be deployed through the public app stores or distributed directly via MDM.

Yes. The Eleos platform allows fleets to design tailored experiences for different user groups, whether specific driver groups, office staff, or any other segment of their organization. Each group sees only the information, tools, and communication relevant to them, without being distracted by content intended for others.

To Do’s allow fleets to assign clear, trackable tasks to drivers, complete with optional due dates. To Do’s can be assigned for various types of activities, such as chasing down missing paperwork, providing license or certification renewal reminders, completing surveys, watching training videos, and more. Organizing To Do’s in one place helps keep drivers organized, provides driver accountability, and helps improve fleet efficiency.

No, you do not need any mobile developers to build or maintain your custom driver app. Eleos handles all of the complex mobile development work behind the scenes, including rigorous testing across numerous iOS and Android OS versions and device types, as well as managing the often difficult platform and app-store submission requirements. Fleets can use our simple, web-based App Manager to configure and update the app without writing mobile code. Many fleets maintain their mobile apps entirely on their own, while others choose to work with our Certified Integrators if they prefer additional support.

Updates to an Eleos-built app are simple and fully under the fleet’s control. All platform upgrades are backward-compatible, and fleets can choose when, or even if, they want to adopt new features. When a fleet is ready, they request an upgrade through our Support Team, who handles the entire process, including app store submission and approval. This lets fleets update on their own timeline without being forced to take new features or needlessly disrupt their drivers’ experience.
