From Glittergoddess@glittergoddess.com:

I met this amazing, brilliant and talented* fire spinner on the playa
(featured in the opening clip of the Circle of Lights 4 video I recently
appeared on put out by the home of poi
https://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/details.asp?prodid=518&cat=100&path
<https://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/details.asp?prodid=518&cat=100&path> =)) who
is also an instructor in BC, Canada. His forte is in advanced technical
moves and control in a way, frankly, I don’t own with poi (yet). We met
yesterday and he has generously offered to do a 4 hour workshop this weekend
called “Dropping the circles down your spine: advanced control techniques
for poi”. (if you saw us outside of space cowboys on wed night, he was the
artist I danced with during my last performance that night — I know Vikki
and Jamie will remember him!)

Nick is really amazing at what he does. If you’re interested in learning new
moves that aren’t out there (he’s invented a ton of moves that just aren’t
around), gaining greater control of your poi, understanding how to move the
poi from your center with greater flow and working generally with your poi
more effectively on a technical level, this seminar is for you. This
workshop is HIGHLY TECHNICAL and intended for Intermediate and Advanced
spinners who want to take their poi to a whole new level.

I’m really excited to be attending and he is inviting others to attend for a
cost of $100. Due to popular demand, what started as one 4 hour session is
extended beyond that into two sessions this weekend. It runs from noon to 4
pm in my studio. If these two time slots don’t work for you, he is also able
to do a private 2 hour session for the same fee, depending on availability.
Right now, there are 2 slots left for Saturday and one slot taken for
Sunday.

Please contact me if you’re interested in registering.

*: a quick note: within any form in life, there is iterative work v.
generative work. Iterative work is the work we “copy” from other’s and
“reiterate” in how we take it to the world. Generative work is the work we
“create” from scratch and propagate. For example, learning a weave is
iterative since it already exists. Creating a 2x1 weave (that whole concept
I’ve been working on for a while) is generative work since it is an
invention of a new move. There are very few people I meet out there whose
work is predominantly generative. Actually, Nick is the first one I’ve met
whose work is generative, so, to say the least, he is teaching me a thing or
two and I find him refreshing, brilliant and talented in his technical work
with poi.

Hope you’re all decompressing well!

In light,
…isa
