Here, watching clips

Well, I went to a site I thought looked reasonable via google, which said it might have video of the second debate. Well, their link goes to MSNBC, and oddly, the video is : Watch this clips and rate who answered best.

The first one is the first question, how would Kerry answer the charge that he's wishy washy. I think it's Kerry, as a debater, I think he handled the question to put the best light on it, got more of his message out. Bush spent too much time on the offensive, made himself out to be a bit smarmy. So, I bite back the urge; maybe I'm clicking 'cause I'm trying to drive the polls one way...and 100% so far, have said Kerry answered the question better.

second question: Did the threat in Iraq justify war?

Bush makes the Case: UN wasn't succeeding, sanctions hadn't worked, so we went it in to take Saddaam out of power.
Kerry: The sanctions did work, they were designed to stop the proliferation for weapons of mass destruction, the report which came out yesterday says their were none, so we've wasted 200 Trillion on a war we didn't need to go to.

Well, I think he just won that round, though it strikes me, and don't we lefties always think our side mussed it just a tad, that his point was financial, not the lives lost. That, would've been a better tag line, but oh, my, sweet retort.

25% believe Bush answered it better.
75% Kerry

Kerry gets weird about the draft question, in fact they both do.
Kerry lists off his resume of folks who support him, that's weak. He talks about what it's like at the moment in this war, which is not about the policy of a draft. he just says he's against it and launches into the other stuff. The fact is, he's a vet, and an activist, there' s no way Kerry is going to pull up a draft. Again, he's got a tag line in his pocket and he wins by a nose, Kerry does, he's not unprepared in these debates.
Bush clearly has doubled back. At one point he was disagreeing with the Pentagon about a smaller, more facile military, and he's clearly quoting from a brief, in fact it's clear he's done some role playing.
Good news: No draft.
28% for Bush, the rest for Kerry on the question of the draft.

Damn, Bush sounds defensive.
Did, this man just compare himself, favorably, with CLINTON?
As for this, it's ..Bush is getting clobbered, he's totally defensive, he doesn't know to talk beyond the question to encapsulate his policies, who is is, what more he can do. He answers, weakly, and sets down.

Internets. He didn't say Internets. Shuckie gee willerickers.
Yahwhoom? Wahsups?
This man decides foreign policy and he just said "internets." Least we know by this, he didn't invent the thingies.
26% for Bush, the rest for Kerry. I'm beginning to wonder if we don't have a fourth of these folks who're going to always answer for Bush...

Bush, sounds like someone gave him a bunch of notes about what his Administration has done, completely out of touch, no passion here.
He doesn't have the ability to structure his sentences well, is that how I should say it, he do.. you know, it's li..well, his grammar seems all funny and I think we should fix this with more edumeration on his part.

I do, I treuly do.
Since we can't send him back a year, I think we'd better get somebody else..oh, look they're both from Yale...'course, Bush couldn't get into Texas Univershirty, so his Dad and Grandad, both Yale Alumni's really made sure Yale was okay with W dropping by for a year or 4.
Somehow, I don't think the Presidency should be quite like his time at college, somehow, there's just been too much time out at the ranch, ya'll feel me? Time to Mooove on.

Environment. Where to start. Well, yes, there is some long range hope for hydrogen, but a lot of what I've read to date says the technology surrounding hydrogen, the process, the supportive technology, relies on oil. Cleaner coal technologies are coming for us, but the Federal gov't hasn't spent huge amounts of money on this, they've done a little, they've given some money to companies where the work is pretty much completed, so the companies will be able to get their work to the big company marketplace. Centerpiece of his Administration, he brings up Forestry? He's been disaster on forestry, trading Ancient Redwoods, & clear cutting polices, to the timber companies in exchange for their agreement to cut the underbrush. Foxes guarding the chickencoop.
Kerry again, more comprehensive answer. About what he's done, about what the Administrations polices are for and have done.
Hmm, 26% to Bush.

Eek. Whoever wrote this up for msnbc spelled ethical, as ethnical.
Nobody one this one, if you want to talk about a really good answer, I think Kerry tried to reach out a itsy bit, but certainly he's too much of stiff to have bridged this persons moral and ethical concerns. He's all for it and he's going to go the route of making it available.
He did say, clearly, that Bush's efforts were for naught.
Bush, could barely get it out, but he did, that he's only allowing the research on the embryo's which are already in place, not to suggest he wants anything more to do with this research once the current crop is gone.
28% to Bush.

Interesting, this supreme court question: Bush wants constructionists, Kerry wants clear rulings about the laws.
He also, finally, brings out his guns and throws out what we might want to be concerned about, fear aimed tactic, but also valid: Womens' rights and he makes no bones about it. He finally gets it across too, how he handles things, not through labels but through a process of consideration and a bit of how this works: He finally gets across how critical thinking applies.
28% to Bush, I'm begining to think it's the same folks 'cross the board.
The end result for me on this one? No way should Bush get the chance to change America any more, what, I mean this, what could Kerry do worse? The war? This just means people don't understand Kerry has been thinking and working on exactly the issue of how to get out of an ill advised war since, well, since he was in Viet Nam, and he's been doing such work, ever since. Folks should check out what he did in the 70's.
