ergI don't know if the account is active, I can't retrieve email, but it wasn't slashdotted. The host decided to move the site to a new server and didn't notify the owner. Days of down time? I'm thinking I've a buddy who is looking for a new host and I'll see if the offer is worth passing along.
No more Wintel boxes, no more one box set-up, no more " Back ups?" No more "Sure, we're (I'm) here to help you, 24/7 (You'll like my voicemail, it's keen!)". Shell access. D.N.S. flipping which is quick. No more "Yes, we can do that, but we'll have to bring the entire site down, we'll have to bring all your sites down." No more, "We had an issue, so to get your attention all the email is bouncing, for you and all your sites." No more training tech support about how the "Internet works".
No more "Well, rather than tell you so you could do something about it, we thought we'd not tell you and chance it or wait for you to call us to complain." No more " We don't support that browser. You say it's standards compliant? Still..."
I dunno if this is possible for under 1,200 a year but we're lookin'.
