What was this all about? I got the lj/6apart message whilst trying to look through the perfect_duet memories this afternoon, and parts of my own journal. What gives?
burr86, one of the more public lj members of staff saw fit to mock fandom in a community, using his name, not some sockpuppet. He was joined by other members of staff. When fans 'spammed' that community because he obviously had time to comment elsewhere while fandoms still wait for a reply, that thread was deleted. (it's the one on the bottom of the article I linked to. By now there are two more articles which address the point that lj/6 apart's customers' relations are the pits, because after 1 1/2 days there is still no response. one article

I sometimes wish to be back in time nice 90th free internet, free speech and free art was not just word it was living. I simply hate those purges for witches...like we must save our children and we must burn or delete at whatever those who are not sharing "the moral values" and attacks core of normal society. I saw many sites to be put down, because some psycho "we must protect our chidren faith or dead stinky fish type" decided to put on holy war. I saw also girl who decided herself to clean net from the yaoi and slash lovers...christianime.net was her domain and guess what she joined our ranks bwach *sour laugh* I think there is time when people are searching for enemy and trying to purge the vermin. But you know the old joke. At the first they came for jews, I am not jew so I did not protest when they took them away, then they came for homosexuals, I did not protest, why should I ? I am straight, but then they came for christians, I do not share their religion as well as after them communists and other parties, I did not protest, but then they came from me and there was nobody to protest when they took me away.
I could not have put it better.:D By now quite a number of non-fandom people have joined forces too because this is no longer about child/underage sex, it is about the way lj/6apart has been treating customers. So far they did not see fit to reply or issue a statement.
I have joined fandom_flies to see how this all proceeds.
I understand that and I am pissed by such attidute of lj/6apart. I think that they just flow with the tide and now tide is to purify all from porn. It is not about child/underage sex it is about something else as you write down.
Well, in a mail to aristaea lj-support stated that they do not mind porn as long as there are no minors. It's at least something. I will definitely continue to look how everything is going.
That's why I now have a mirror account at insanejournal. :D They seem fine, as far as I can tell. I'm not leaving lj for now, but I want to be on the safe side.
Ich weiß - I know. *g* Der Spiegel is one of Germany's oldest and most controversial but also respected weekly magazines. It'll be interesting to see if this online article makes it into the printed version. So far the comments (apart from one) have been clear, to the point and positive.
