My bar for humor may be really low but there seems to be a GoRuck Tough event going on in the same space as this Ingress event. And the two GoRuck teams are also dressed in either green or blue. I nearly cried with laughter watching the folks with cell phones crowding the park outside get chase out by a screaming boot-camp like mob charging in and doing weight lifts.

There are definitely ingress goruck crowds out there. We were just reading about an ingress goruck in japan that had 400 people show up.

As hilarious as it looked to an observer from 5 floors up... that is exactly what it was. The gent encountered them later on and filled me in. From this single instnace of observation, the local Resistance is a lot more athletically inclined than the Enlightened.

They'd kinda have to be, wouldn't they? (I wonder if that is generally true of resistances, at least if they're successful. But I'm reading "The Traitor Baru Cormorant" at the moment, so this is totally on my mind, heh.)

Yep, the GoRuck players were also Ingress players. It has been a thing for the last three Anomaly finales. Abaddon ended the series in Oakland last weekend (http://www.ingress.com/events) with the Resistance beating the Enlightened *again* much to my dismay. Team Green did beat Team Blue in Oakland, so my ferrying of 500 keys from OAK to PDX for remote recharging helped, we just lost the overall Anomaly.

The gent says that California is unusually heavily skewed to green (something like two or three per blue) so it wasn't surprising that blue got whomped (despite the much larger blue GoRuck group).

I can't find a citation for either the above stat or the explanation for the Resistance win being that Europe leans blue.
