Ah—the recorder is working now, yes? Wonderful. [Charles, looking drawn and tired, fiddles with something off-screen as he shifts himself jerkily. Notably, the video shows only his upper torso.]

Good evening to everyone. It appears I am not the only being finding himself—or herself, pardon me—in a...rather remarkable situation upon waking. Doubtless, many of you would also like to know more about this company called KERNOS, as well as its president. I thank anyone who would be forthcoming with the information in advance.

[Abruptly, his polite manner slips, and his shoulders visibly tense. His gaze skitters away from the camera.]

If anyone would be kind enough. [Charles breaks off before continuing with some hesitation; yes, it is just about killing his pride to even broach the subject.] I might require some assistance reaching the nearest shelter.

[ooc: Anyone who goes looking for Charles will find him on the rocky beach, propped up awkwardly on his elbows and his white wheelchair lying just a few feet away.]

I...seem to be on a rocky beach of sorts. Other than that, I cannot say.

You are the first. [That this person would ask such a question confirms that there are others in the area. It's a good sign, and Charles hopes someone among the others has a better idea of the situation.]

[Erik has been heading into the shelter, but as he's flicking through the device he sees him.

Well isn't that just a kick to the chest.

He had just left him a few days prior, out on that beach. Where everything had gone wrong, and they had made choices he is quite sure they couldn't take back.]

[Erik hadn't intended on wearing the helmet, but he slips it on, unsure what Charles is getting at.

He's wearing different clothing, and clearly looks healthy. The bullet (his mistake, his folly, the one regret), seemed not to cause much damage, at least. But something still feels wrong.

That sense that things would suddenly go bad, very soon.]

And why do you need assistance, Charles.

[Now that isn't a face he would have expected to see so soon.]

[it is very unlikely that kanda will do any charity work for someone, regardless of whether they are on a wheelchair or not. he is, however, not altogether merciless. the reponses before him though show that the man seeking aid might be getting the required assistance he is looking for.]

From your reaction, I would guess the company and all of its employees have been difficult to get a hold of?

That would be an understatement.

All they do is send stupid one-line messages every few days.

One-line messages are better than nothing, I'm afraid. Perhaps the next one we receive will give us a clue we can use to our advantage.

What have the other messages said, if you don't mind me asking?

[She's not used to going out of her way to help people yet, but he's so polite about it. And sounds intelligent, unlike some of the other people she's talked to on the island.]

If you are asking for a specific location, then I'm afraid not.

[Now he's pushing himself up, scrabbling at the rocky area around him to look over his shoulder.] I can see a large gate from where I am, but...I'm sorry, there isn't much more to go on.

That helps, actually. I'm pretty sure there's only a few of those gates. [She thinks. She hasn't had time yet to explore the whole island. She'll start heading for the closest gate though.]
