Forgive me for not introducing myself sooner, I had to battle some...unfortunate side-effects of sea travel. [ Seasickness, daedra take you. ] My name is Martin and I'm a healer. I don't require payment for my services, although I would never turn down a book.

Ah, that reminds me, is there a library in this ship? [ He keeps getting lost. ] I would appreciate directions.

[ As promised, it's only a few moments before Chell is at Martin's door. She's cradeling her right hand which is swollen still, her knuckles still discolored. Rather tahn pained, she simply seems tired. ]

[ Martin lacks a basic first aid kit—gauze, alcohol, splints, needles and thread—to prepare anything, so he waits by the door, hands tucked into his cassock's sleeves, for his patient to arrive.

He doesn't wait long. Nor does it take long to assess the damage, but he still asks the questions that must be asked, otherwise he might miss hidden injuries that must be healed too. ] I'm sorry we couldn't meet under more...happy circumstances. [ He begins, opening the door and motioning for her to sit on his bed, a bottom bunk. ] Can you tell me how you injured your hand?

[ Chell follows his instructions and goes to sit down. As for the question, she pulls out her compass and with her left hand manages to type out a reply. ]

You didn't mention that you don't take payment either. I like you more already.

[ Martin laughs. ] If I wanted riches and glory, I wouldn't have become a priest. I would've joined the Legions as a Battlemage. [ Or...become the Emperor. His face falls into a one-sided frown. ]

I'm certain that wouldn't stop some for trying to make a profit on the suffering of others. [He notes that expression, his own smile fading as well.]

No, it wouldn't. But those are not the vows I took, nor do I believe in profiting from suffering.

...I miss Tamriel. [ It's a partial truth. He isn't a fan of lying, whether lies of omission or full lies, but what's the point of noting his titles? He doesn't want to come across as a self-aggrandizing noble, even though he was raised as a peasant. ] I'm worried for them.

Them? [Dark eyes focus on Martin's face, curious and sympathetic.]

There is no library that I know of. If you're just looking for a spot of reading, though, the rec room has some books you might consider.

No library? That's a shame. [ That should be rectified! Martin rests his hand on his chin, thinking. ] Ah, that sounds wonderful. I would never turn down an opportunity to read something new.

Then I hope the books are to your tastes.

Don't mind my asking -- wouldn't doing that worsen seasickness? [all the swaying can't be conducive for focusing on something up close]

There's little I dislike reading. [ Military history. ] I should be fine.

Ah, well, I've found an alchemist who can brew a remedy. I've been fine so far.

[dinosaurs have little to do with military history, so. Have fun with that]

Good to hear. I know of him, but there has been little cause for me to seek his aid as yet. [Catches is getting free advertizing here!]

I don't think I've seen a library, but I'm glad that you can heal people!... It's something I wish I could do.

Oh, but what do you mean by side-effects?

Then you have a good heart. Healing is a needed profession. But not one popular where I come from.

Oh, that. I became sea-sick. I'd never traveled by ship before. The swaying and rocking got to me.

It's not popular? I wonder why. Could you, um... heal yourself and get better?

Because it doesn't make much money. Becoming a Battlemage is a more glorious and...respected profession.

I tried. But I was too nauseous to heal myself properly.

Some books showed up a little while ago, yeah. Mostly about plants and insects and things. [Yes, things. That's the, uh, scientific term.] I've got two of them I'm almost done with.

I'd love to take them off your hands. Once you're done, of course. I'm not familiar with the flora and fauna of this realm at all. [ Obviously. He chuckles once at his idiotic admittance. ]

No problem. I'm taking my own notes, so I won't need them again. [A shrug.] Maybe we will be lucky, and go to this place in the books. So it's something to do.

Not that I've noticed. Such a shame, too, considering all this time we have for reading.
