So, how many of you actually intend to get up on the hostilities here? ...Or work as servants for that captain guy. [nothing wrong with secretly (?) wishing to wear a maid uniform and cook and clean. Yeah......... :|]

If you don't, [she raises a pair of flowers into view] I could use some advice on whether they're edible.

If you do...how's it going? I haven't come across the rebels supposedly hiding in the woods, and the last I stopped at the soldiers' base was quite a while ago.

That's chickweed. It has different vitamins but mostly it's more strongly associated with being an appetite suppressant. It can be eaten with salad... I've seen people boil it for tea. You just shouldn't over do it.

[ Marion looks pleased. ] The tea is useful for people who are sick. It breaks down mucus and can help fight respiratory infections.

Huh. [impressed, by both the myriad properties, and how Marion knows of them alike] I just wanted to be sure they weren't poisonous, but that's good to know.

I know about things like that. I uh.... Had extensive survival training. Plant me in the "wild" and I can survive if I have something that can act like a knife for a month or more. It's useful.

I'm not a servant, but I am working as a doctor for Captain Vidal. As for the hostilities, I probably won't be in the front lines, but I'll be patching up his men.

He's more flexible than I expected, then. [that, or she hadn't realized Vidal's need to have medical help on hand]

His wife is nine months pregnant. I think that alone calls for as much medical help as you can grab.

What is a pregnant woman even doing in a war zone. [rhetorical question, never mind] Can you tell if there was much fighting before we got here?

Hm, I don't think my intentions would impact much. I would rather not be used for anyone's beck and call if I can help it.

What makes you draw those conclusions, though?

It's not a conclusion insomuch as it is a choice. I'm not looking forward to having a toe tag for my retirement gift simply because I chose the wrong side or someone is mad at me for wearing the wrong color.

Just because one side appears aesthetically pleasing while the other are simply invaders, it's not my place to say who is right or wrong when the circumstances could be just as frivolous as the tassels on the hilt of a sword.

Our purpose is for backup. Yes, that's all well and good but I didn't sign a contract. Therefore, I am still an individual that can make my own decisions.

I don't mind working for Mister Vidal. He's a little rough around the corners, but he's actually a good person. He has a son that he's fighting for. This is why he says the things he does, because ... well, he's a good man.
