Well, it's been rather quiet lately. [There's the sound and view of a particular British accent, followed by the witch herself. She's wandering a hall in the Overlook Hotel. And oh, yes. There may or may not be an excessive amount of red that can be seen amongst all that black she wears.

The cornfields were not a very nice place for her on the first day.]

I do have to wonder, with no noise on the network, you'd think everyone has gone mad and killed each other already. [A beat, and she huffs.] Do go ahead and prove me wrong. I'd like to see where all your precious little faces have been.

[Whale turns on the camera, giving it a cold look. He nods, as if acknowledging that yep, he's alive.]

With all these new places to explore, I don't blame people for not talking on the network.

If they were new places, darling, we'd be hearing all about them. [She raises her eyebrows at that.] As it is, hardly anyone's spoken, and when we don't hear anything in new places, I wouldn't exactly take that as a welcoming sign.

There's a cemetery. Is that new enough?

Not unless that cemetery has incoming angels. And I'm not talking about the decoration, either.

It's remarkably normal, but still some place new.

It's rather drab, unfortunately. What's a girl to do if she's being constantly chased by people who have lost their mind?

Well, I know they'd certainly want you to die. But something tells me you're a bit adverse to that.

Isn't everyone? Adverse to dying, that is. Killing me is rather a common want back home.

It's because we're having a great, great time.

Are you, now? I suppose you're the not only one.

Something about the lack of sunshine and the sense of impending doom is doing wonders for my bad mood.

[A soft hmmm.] You mean there's more to your attitude than just being a constant downer, Meyer? I'm shocked!

Oh yeah, that's me.

I take it that means you're doing better than most are as of right now.

Define "better". And then define it like a normal, sane person would.

[Jim never does video, but he gives her a friendly smile once it turns on.]

Not dead yet. [That's entirely a joke, even if it's 100% accurate.] You look like you're fairing well.

[Bayonetta notices, readjusting her glasses and smiling just a little at that.]

Let's just say I've grown a very large disliking for cornfields recently.

[Yeah, Jim's been there. Not fun. Though it makes him more aware of her moral standing. Hm.]

Ah, then you could never be my wife. I'm a cornhusker, born and raised. Probably for the best.

[She's a good person, but when it comes down to her survival, she's not afraid to pull the punches. She loves children, but those kind of children are ones she can't love at all. And running, when it comes to COMPASS? Please.

That doesn't mean she doesn't regret her actions, of course. It's just buried.]

Your wife? My, Starship, aren't you being bold. You haven't even taken me out to dinner yet.

[He doesn't think ill of her, just has a better understanding.]

Just letting you know now, my lovely Bewitched, it'll never work out in the end. We can wine and dine, but it's already set in stone.

Not so say we can't do everything else anyway. [He gives her a grin and a chuckle. It's a surface humor, something to cope with.]

Been kinda busy.

[Well, that's a new voice! Hello, stranger.]

Oh, there's no need to apologize, darling! I just wanted to see who's still alive and has a pulse. One can never be too sure about those kind of things when it comes to COMPASS.

[ well, at least it's good to hear someone's voice. Minako turns on her feed, and it's obvious that she's been through her share of fights as well. magic doesn't remove blood stains well, and it's apparent on the cuffs and collar of her uniform shirt. ]

I think prioritizing saving your own skin over talking to people on the network is what people would generally choose...

[Oh! Hello, Minako. Bayonetta shrugs, flicking off something on her shoulder before looking back to the camera.]

Oh, obviously! But it gets a little concerning when no one even makes a statement about the dangers of such and such a place, or something else to watch out for. The last time we were dragged anywhere, we were told to shoot off limbs and stomp on heads for the monsters. Otherwise they'd get angry.

To hear nothing at all doesn't bode well for anyone, don't you agree?

That's true... a Public Service Announcement or something definitely wouldn't hurt. But would anyone be up for doing something like that on a regular basis?

[ she'd be more than happy to lead it, but would much rather do it as a group with others. you never know what could happen, after all. ]

If they are, it'd be best to choose someone other than me. [A beat.] If I'm the one making PSAs, then you know the situation is awful.

There's a lot wrong with this place. It wouldn't surprise me if that is what happened. [Viral's not feeling too well himself after a few days in the Overlook.]

Well, at least one person is alive. It's not like we're all dead.

[The Overlook isn't really a place she enjoys, she's got an odd feeling always around her and staying in one place during these rift pulls never means anything good.]

Two of us, I suppose. Weird things might be going on, but I'm not going to let them get to me. [So he says. Viral looks tired, and that's usually impossible for him. But this place has him mentally exhausted.]

More than two, darling. You're not the only one who's replied.

[He wouldn't be the only one, but Bayonetta's a good liar. Even when she's freaking out over people, she's got a quick tongue and even quicker wit to cover her for her actions.]

What's even all been going on out there? When I arrived, it was in a cornfield of maniac human children trying to kill me with farming tools. The girl from Zelien I had found before those kids finding us went with them, and that was the last I heard of her. Earlier today I had to fight a vehicle that was possessed or something. Hard as hell to kill.

And this hotel. I-- [He looks left, then right, like he's looking over his shoulder.] can't put my finger on it, but there's something wrong with it.

[British accents remind her of Simmons and she listens to them like she's going through some withdrawal right now. Except wow. Wow, lady.]

Is this what it's going to be like? People banking on others dying or not?

Banking? You make it sound like I'm raising a bet on people, darling. I can assure you I'm not that cold, honestly.

Sounds that way.

Oh no, if I were placing a bet I would do it in a much more "showy" fashion. You'd know when you saw it.

Something tells me I don't want to find out.

[ Bayonetta's words give Alice pause, but instead of addressing them, she turns her attention to the woman's appearance. There's a flash of concern across her sharp features, an almost silent questioning of,"Is any of that yours?"] You look like you could use a day at the spa.

[Bayonetta doesn't reply at all to the silent question, but the raised brows and the tilt of her head still speak for her and what she means. "No, and this wasn't done willingly." It's subtle, hard to notice if you don't know Bayonetta, but Alice does, and that makes all the difference.]

A day at the spa sounds marvelous. My hair is in dire need of a break, and so am I. It's a shame anything here only means more trouble.

[ The subtle expression says it all to Alice, and she releases a sigh laden with relief. She's all right, and that's the only thing that matters. She offers a small, haggard smile. ]

I'll keep an eye out for bubble bath here, and maybe when—if—we return to the campus, I'll let you borrow it. It's not a spa, but it's the little things.

I'm sure all that faith and sunny attitude get you far.

Of course, darling! Someone has to carry the burden of being all rainbows and sunshine when others are losing their minds.

[ He snorts. ]

You're avoiding the mind-losing though?
