[He felt sort of drowsy and somewhat anxious, a narcotic heaviness still clinging deliciously to his limbs. It would never wholly leave him, the vertigo of the moment he was pulled from one nightmare and promptly thrown into the next, speeding along an unfamiliar train track; it would be with him for the rest of his life, and it would always be mingled inextricably with the sound of the sea – dull, swooning blue, the smell of salt perfuming the air – and his brother’s face burning a hole in his soul. It would be a moment that stayed with him for the entire time that he was forced to reside here, he was sure of it.
…Of course, none of these nauseating worries translate through in the feed. He is all smiles, charm, and wile. The demeanor seems to come to him naturally, his face held close to the screen of his device so that the electric blue of his eyes seem to shimmer with invitation, creating a kind of immediate biography, a shared recognition of the integrity of personhood, between himself and whoever happens to be looking back. It was shocking, Yancy's gaze. Alarming. Arresting. It was tumultuous and sleepy all the same, filled with a kind of extraordinary lure that was silent, instantaneous, and moved through his face as real a phenomenon as a sudden storm.]
You know, the drivesuit is a pretty cool look, but in this heat? I feel like my insides might be liquefying.
[He watches his unseen audience as carefully as a sailor watches the fixed star. He feels unsettled, but his features were set on the scaffolding of his bone as if riveted there; they expressed a force and jocularity that seemed almost metallic.]
Trouble is, I can’t just slip out of it. So are there any technicians out there? Engineers, maybe? Anyone that might be familiar with Jaeger machinations would be best, but if you’ve got a handle for nuts and bolts, I won’t complain. I can try my best to walk you through the nasty bits.
...C’mon, help a guy out?

What is it? A kind of armour?

It's something like that. It's supposed to make sure I don't fry in the conn-pod. [All that radiation? Yeah, hard pass.] Without this, I can't pilot. I can't sync with a Jaeger.
[He stops for a moment, considering.] ...But I'm guessing we don't have stuff like that here, huh? You're looking at me like I've totally lost my mind.

You just said a whole bunch of things that go straight over d'Artagnan's head. His friendly face looks mystified, and he shakes his head a bit. ]
I'm sorry. I think we're speaking different languages, since I didn't understand a word. I doubt we have them, unless I've been looking at them in ignorance. [ A pause. ] Which is possible. What are they?

He's good with guns and spaceships, I think he can deal with a few nuts and bolts.

[He smiles--okay no, it's more of a lopsided roguish smirk. He's a smug bastard.]
There aren't any Jaegers here [god but a tank would be nice--sorry, giant robot would work too I guess] but the suit mechanism is my specialty.
[Look, his comes off by itself. Why can't futuristic worlds get it right like him?]
VIDEO;
I figured they weren't any. I'm pretty sure I would have spotted one by now. Those things are hard to miss, you know? [He turns his shoulder towards the screen so that the Spinal Clamps running down his back were visible. They looked damaged but still stubborned intact.] Have you seen anything like this before?
VIDEO;
He leans forward in his chair and peers more closely at the video screen.] Can't say that I approve of the design but it's nothing I can't handle.

He knows it's not Mako; he knows he would know if it were her. But maybe it's five years of trying not to remember too hard, and the short-lived weeks of trying not to forget so much about the cold of Alaska, that's made Raleigh not realize who it is that's come back online in the hallways of his mind.
The drift is a powerful thing. ]
—Yance?
VOICE;
The aftershocks of the drift pulses through his limbs.] Raleigh. Is that you? Where are you? How - [...How did you get out of Gipsy in one piece? ...Hell, how did I?]

Family is family, and it's the most important thing to him. ]
I don't know, man. I don't know, I don't— where are you?

I'm not familiar with Jaeger tech, but I can give it a shot if you haven't found anyone else yet. Most power suit technology is somewhat similar when you get down to it.
VIDEO;
Not many people are, so I'm not surprised. It's complicated stuff. [And Yancy knows it like the back of his own hands. But he can't do this alone, and certainly not without the right equipment.] Your uh, man-friend [...He's taking a wild guess here. And possibly not a very good one] mentioned you to me earlier. Cortana, right?
VIDEO;
And man-friend? That's an...odd term. Confusion flits across her face, one brow raised higher than the other but still she nods.] That's right. And you would be?

[It's a pretty broad specialty, but you never know what might end up on Earth.]
VIDEO;
[He turns his back towards the camera and the screen shakes with the callous motion.] See this? [He points to an angular stripe running down the length of his back.] It's bolted onto my spine. I need someone with really steady hands to peel it off. The rest of the suit should be pretty damn easy after that.
