Hi. Um, my name's Ryan.
[ Ryan's looking a little better than he did last time. For the first time in a while, he wasn't contemplating suicide, or thinking the entire community (monsters and vines and all) were out to get him. He's sad…but there's something else behind that sadness you see. ]
I was with Charley right before we sunk, and…I think she's gone. Like, 'back home' gone. [ That was something that hurt his heart quite a bit. Charley was what made him strong. She loved him no matter what hell they went through, or how crazy he was. Charley made him feel like he had a purpose. But now she was gone.
That wouldn't hold him up, though. ] I don't want to be sad about it. I mean, I am, but she's better at home than she is here. This way she doesn't have to deal with this place. London? Wherever.
I'm tired of not being able to do anything. Charley believed that I was just as good as anyone else, and now that she's gone I want to really believe her and try as hard as I can to be a part of something. [ He looks to the camera, looking as determined as he could possibly manage. ] I want to help. Let me try.
[ That's when the video ends. ]

I feel better knowing she's home and safe. Even if it means we won't talk anymore. That's the only thing that sucks, but I'm being selfish, I guess.

With these Infected things it makes you feel like you're in a zombie game.

for a minute, helen is stunned, both because she's just figured out who ryan was talking about when they met and because the person was her roommate. normally, she might offer something along the lines of "i'm sorry to hear she's gone," but in this case, he's right. she's better off somewhere else. ]
Finding supplies or checking on people you know is a very good start.

[ no thinking about it. this is part of that self-confidence thing. ]
I'm fine. [ it's automatic and she pauses. ] As fine as can be expected. I know the city well enough, but it's far from the London I last saw. Something isn't right.

...What's not right about it? I've never been to London before. Is there any place that's good for shelter?

[ please tell her you have friends, ryan, or she will come looking. ]

Alright. That sounds a lot better than just walking around on your own.
...Do you know if there's any groups going around? I keep thinking of Left 4 Dead 2 where people just travel in pairs to get from one place to another.

Not exactly, but if you'd like I can come keep you company for a time. Unless, of course, you'd rather run around with a younger crowd. The older generation can be a bit boring.
[ yeah, she only looks 40. about that... ]

Do you need anything at all? There's some stuff around here that could count for a makeshift weapon, but...

[ since he seems to be a bit alone and there's stuff she could get to using or showing him how to use. ]

[ Zombies. Probably. But maybe there's another name for them he doesn't know about, so he hesitates to put a label on them when he hasn't even fully faced them yet. ]

...On video games, yeah. I can't say in reality I am.
But I want to try and work on it. There's some things here but I don't know if they'd be weapon-worthy. I know you can kill things with baseball bats and axes but I don't have things like that here.

I was about to say though-- about the things out there, I mean. I've seen them enough in movies, but I don't think that's going to help much with the real deal. [ Especially since he isn't as physically fit as he used to be, maybe then he could actually have done something about them. ] Maybe you can grab a plank of wood somewhere? As long as it's not too light, it should work.

Looks alright to me. Just make sure you don't grab it the wrong way and injure yourself instead. [ You know, splinters can really be annoying and all.. ] And if we can believe the movies, you should be going for the head. Not that going for the head's ever a bad choice. [ Finally he can feel a little more useful - despite his current condition, he does have a lot of experience to know stuff from, at least. ]
I'll be fine though. I wasn't really planning on going out while it's like this anyway. It seems they can't get on campus.

[ He tries to present it like a joke of sorts though, even giving a dry laugh after it. He just doesn't like people fussing over him even though there are plenty of reasons for people to do so.. ]
I'm sitting in front of the dorms building though. Feels like a waste to sit inside.
