an encouragement of violets
May. 16th, 2009 11:26 amyes, my name is REALLY Fairlight. my first name is Jonathan, but people do not call me this, because I don't answer to that. I know that it really means a clearing with ferns in it and doesn't have anything to do with light, at least not in old english (well, I have since Nora told me so) but I don't care. To me it means exactly what it says, it is one of the names on my actual birth cert, and it is my name.
I am 24. As of March. holy crap. I always said if I lived to be 30 I'd probably live forever and now I am more than 2/3 of the way there. excuse me while I boggle some.
I really did get married when I was 19 to someone that I had known for about a week (kids, don't try this at home!) and it was wonderful. we were legally married at the time we got married and for a little while thereafter. his family treats it as legal, at least his father's side. his mother does too, but she hates me. he really died when I was 21. it sucked. a lot. I am still not okay with it.
more later, as required

Date: 2009-05-18 10:15 pm (UTC)I'm really sorry if you felt I was insulting your name, Fairlight is a lovely name! Its just that, as the bearer of a somewhat odd name myself, I feel sympathy for those whose parents twisted the spelling on their birth certificates.

And really there is no telling what Mother was thinking. I'm told she spoke so many languages, I'm fortunate I can pronounce my name.
