Official Rules - FinBilim FinTech Hackathon 2025

1. Eligibility
  • Open to all high school and university students worldwide
  • Teams of 1-5 members permitted
  • All team members must be enrolled students at time of registration
2. Team Formation
  • Teams can be formed before or during the hackathon
  • You may only participate on one team
  • Solo participants are welcome
3. Project Requirements
  • Projects must be related to financial technology (FinTech)
  • Work must be completed during the hackathon period (December 1-29, 2025)
  • You may use existing code libraries, APIs, and frameworks
  • Any pre-existing code must be clearly documented and disclosed
  • Projects must have real-world applicability and potential impact
4. Intellectual Property
  • Participants retain all rights to their projects
  • By submitting, you grant FinBilim permission to showcase your project for promotional purposes
  • You are responsible for ensuring your project doesn't infringe on others' intellectual property
5. Code of Conduct

We are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment. All participants must:

  • Treat all attendees, organizers, judges, and sponsors with respect
  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior
  • Communicate professionally in all hackathon spaces (virtual meetings, Discord, etc.)
  • Follow the MLH Code of Conduct: https://mlh.io/code-of-conduct
6. Submission Guidelines
  • Submissions must be made through Devpost by December 29, 2025, 11:59 PM EST
  • Late submissions will not be accepted
  • Projects must include all required materials (written response, demo, code repository)
7. Judging
  • Judge decisions are final
  • Winners will be notified via email and announced publicly
8. Prizes
  • Prize details will be announced on our website
  • Winners must be eligible to receive prizes (no sanctions, restrictions, etc.)
  • Prizes cannot be transferred or substituted
9. Disqualification

Participants may be disqualified for:

  • Violating the code of conduct
  • Submitting plagiarized or previously created work
  • Failing to meet submission requirements
  • Providing false information
  • Any form of cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct
10. Privacy & Data
  • Your personal information will only be used for hackathon administration
  • We will not share your information with third parties without consent
  • Event photos/videos may be used for promotional purposes
11. Liability
  • Participation is at your own risk
  • FinBilim is not liable for any technical issues, lost work, or other problems
  • Participants are responsible for maintaining backups of their work
12. Changes to Rules
  • FinBilim reserves the right to modify these rules at any time
  • Significant changes will be communicated to all registered participants
  • Continued participation constitutes acceptance of updated rules
13. Sponsor Interaction
  • Participants may interact with sponsors during the event
  • Any agreements with sponsors are separate from the hackathon
  • FinBilim is not responsible for sponsor-participant agreements
