There is a word duplicated in one of the comments in the language-configuration.json file of the language extension template. Ironically (and embarrassingly) there is a typo in my commit message about fixing a typo...
This is my first open source PR, please let me know if there is anything I should have done differently. I apologize for all of the extra commits on such a simple PR. I had to remove newlines that were automatically added on save by my editor and then I also deleted the .vscode directory initially, thinking it had been created when I opened up the repo in VS code, only to realize later it was a part of the source repo.
