Built-in support for MCP Apps (nee MCP-UI)

MCP-UI is gaining adoption. We have proposed API for extension-contributed tool rendering, and we should consider including a built-in extension that would render MCP UI like we do for notebook rendering scenarios.

Please adopt mcp-ui and don't go with your own custom solution. There are so many little issues and corner cases that have to be addressed it would greatly help out if the community could settle on one approach. The future of AI depends on this. 😄

Yes please! Vscode was ahead of its time with chat participants and if the best of that approach start flowing back into the world of MCP I'll be happy

We also might be getting ui:// as the official mcp-ui schema in the MCP protocol, so native mcp-ui support in VSCode will be a next natural step. We're happy to help in whatever is needed.
