SETTING
SETTING ![]() The entryway to the mall is the only part of the mall with windows. Attempting to open the door might make it melt, or bounce at your character's face and knock you back several feet, or explode, or turn bright fluorescent colors - whatever you can think of that will deter your character from getting out, it'll do. The parking lot is easily seen from here, and generally, it's empty except for one or two cars. There doesn't seem to be anything around the mall, just the endless parking lot. The front of the mall is the best way to judge whether it's day or night. ![]() When you turn around from the entryway, there's a long strip of stores to your right and left. At the end of the building are the escalators that lead to the second floor. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't - it depends on how the mall is feeling. Behind the escalators are the elevators, and those, too, only work about half the time. It's very possible for the elevators to break down in the middle of a ride up and leave those trapped inside stuck for hours before jerking back into order. As of now, there is no second floor, so the escalators lead right up to the ceiling, and the elevators go up to the second floor, only to open to a block of concrete. Sometimes, if you're lucky, the doors will open to somewhere else, however. The stores along the first floor are subject to change at any time. ![]() In the middle of the mall, there is a billboard. This billboard flashes several advertisements a day for different stores, as well as announcements for the grand opening of new stores, and sometimes, warnings. Warnings for what? A lot of things. Just know that if there's a picture of a person on fire that flashes on the billboard, it might be a good idea to keep a fire extinguisher around. ![]() Typically, the halls are uneventful. During the day, they're empty except for you, dear shoppers. But during the night, they are patrolled by Night Security, who will not hesitate to punish you for being out after curfew. The Night Security do not look like anything, and trying to remember will only result in terrible headaches, should you try. Just know that they're there, and that you should avoid them. ![]() The food court is located down the strip and to west of the entryway, and it is small, closed off, and kind of eerie. Several different food shops can be found here - Subway, McDonalds, In N' Out, Panda Express, Taco Bell, Hot Dogs On a Stick, and what appears to be a fast food version of the Olive Garden. Sometimes, the McDonalds is a Burger King, and sometimes, it'll change halfway through your order. Nobody can explain why. ![]() It's not exactly a garden, but it's close enough. The middle of this area is all tile, but around the edges and pushing in toward the center are a great variety of plants. The picture does not do it justice - imagine it much thicker, and taller, dense like a jungle. Our shoppers have mentioned seeing anything from butterflies to tigers to ducks the size of horses in this area, so it isn't always certain what you'll find in the underbrush. The tile in the center is safe, however, and animals or various carnivorous plantlife will not bother you there. There is also a piano, which is mysteriously always tuned. It can be pretty peaceful. ![]() The movie theater can hold up to 100 people, and has exactly that many seats. The lights in this room are never on, and unless someone puts one on, there is never any movie playing. The projector room is easy enough to break into, and inside there is a whole cabinet of movies to pick from. The selection is rather eclectic, and some of the more popular, recent movies appear to be bootleg versions. Maybe if you wish hard enough, you'll be able to find the movie you want to find - the selection changes every time you close the cabinet door. |
