saw this on twitter and had to share - i don't know if the image will embed properly but do go check it out! (the artist doesn't allow reposts so embedding is the most respectful option.) there's also art of heinkel and yumie in the same thread, and this artist really likes alucard so if you're a fan of him definitely check out their work.

who's your favorite minor character? makube is mine, haha, but i know there's people out there who really like sir penwood, among others... let's hear about your unsung hellsing heroes! or villains, if you prefer >:3c

Makube would be up there for sure, he's got such a fun face and smarmy quality and that artist link is genuinely delightful to see another artist around these parts who likes him. :)

funnily enough to your question, hellsing's literally the *one* fandom where i tend to like the major characters over the minor ones x) can't choose. do alucard's guns count?

it's almost a shame hirano came up with such a great character design then didn't do anything else with it. at least there's the earlier series with makube's prototype - he's more wild than smarmy in there, but still fun.

as for the guns - whether you mean the spirit(s) or the physical guns themselves, yeah, i'd say those can count. there's certainly enough loving attention paid to them by the narrative. i don't think i've seen anyone claim a gun spirit as a favorite character before!

Oh man I totally forgot about the prototype hentai mangas and that Makube was in there.... YES.

(oh btw i was having fun clicking through scumsuck's site for webdev shenanigans and saw some discord emotes that may or may not have been commissioned by you of a certian smarmy fellow. :> it was really cute seeing that there right when we had been having this conversation lol.)

HOW could you forget about the hentai? :p the prototypes add a lot of, let's say, background flavor to the canon lol. it feels like watching a movie where most of the actors got their start in porn XD

Always enjoyed the baobhan sith, from Red Rose Vertigo in the original anime. Obscure vampire lore + go-getter villain who inserts herself into the Hellsing mansion with mind stuff and trickery, not busting the door down + hot f/f attraction = perfect combo.

I like the manga and Ultimate too, but the slower "villain of the week" episodes in the TV series had their charms! Let the characters and their relationships get a little more buildup before we got to the "back-to-back multi-issue fight scenes" stage of the plot.

oh yes, she was a great little villain! i agree, the pacing in the earlier gonzo episodes let people spend more time in that world and get to know it before the stakes really exploded. i've been meaning to give it a rewatch, thanks for the reminder :3

but yes makube looks so handsome in his strange way...and crossfire maxwell! all of them look great in this artists style...

there's so many good yumikos out there - out of all the minor characters it seems like she and heinkel sure get the lion's share of interest. hans too, though i think we can say he plays a bigger role in the story...or maybe it just seems like he does because he is so literally big lol. have you ever thought about yumiko and hans interacting?
