I'm not evil, it's just good press

So the thing I'm finding most difficult to adjust to in dreamwidth so far? My mouse wheel doesn't work to scroll through posts in chrome (I haven't tried other browsers yet) It's moderately irritating though given that I don't have a huge reading list so far, surmountable.

Found out that my nephew has testicular cancer. My mom pointed me at the gofund me page to raise money since I almost never facebook. Donated a bit though things are rather tight with all the travelling I've been doing lately...I haven't gotten my reimbursement for the Hawaii trip from work yet because there was some absolutely stabby making politics going on.

I haven't seen my nephew in probably at least ten years. My brother barely talks to me these days ever since dad passed away. I think he was angry that he couldn't be there before they turned off the machines but since I didn't even know that they were going to do so until I got off the plane and the previous time it looked bad his wife got pretty pissy that they'd come out when dad recovered...I'm sort of moderately annoyed by it.

So basically it's rather like a stranger that I barely know that I found out is related to me is sick...nobody ever likes to hear that someone is sick, especially with something as serious as cancer, but there's not much I can do but throw a little money at it. Logically I understand this but I feel vaguely guilty that I'm not more upset.

The weekend was full of video games and lazy. So much lazy, in fact, that I, for the first time since the demise of webvan, scheduled a delivery of groceries for today. This was partially motivated by needing some rather large things and a few heavy things and it was hot this weekend...I wasn't looking forward to being a dripping mess getting home. Being the way of such things I totally forgot a couple of things and need to swing by the small store on my way home.

I actually did do a fair amount of chores. All the laundry but ironing, cleaning the bathroom, mopping the bathroom and kitchen...so I wasn't a total slug but Persona 5 had the main of my attention. What can I say? Saving the world with the help of my inner demons and powering up with the power of FRIENDSHIP amuses me greatly.

I did end up seeing "The Drowsy Chaperone" with my roommate Ian on Friday (and eating a huge number of chicken strips at Bochon. My roommate sometimes forgets vegetables are a thing...I was the only one that had any of the coleslaw that was the only green thing on the table other than edamame, everything else was chicken, chicken, chicken, rice) It was on okay show, I wasn't really blown away by much of it but it made me laugh.

Amazingly I have no meetings today. This never happens so I'm half wishing I'd played hooky just to take advantage of not needing to reschedule fifty things. I, however, remain virtuous. Book club is this week on Wednesday so I have to leave a little early then and I have another huge mega crunch deadline coming up that I should really lay the groundwork for a bit.

Tomorrow I intend to attempt to make peanut butter and jelly macarons. Because why not?
