Is the player at least 18 years of age? Above and beyond.

Character's Full Name: Krevlorneswath of the Deathwok Clan. He prefers "Lorne," thank you very much.
Canon: Angel: the Series
PB/Actor: Andy Hallett
Character's Starting Level: 1
Character Age: Unknown, assumed to be in his early to mid-thirties by human standards.
Physical Description:
Lorne stands at 6'2" with an average build, though it's very unlikely that's the first thing someone would notice upon meeting him. Like other members of the Deathwok Clan, Lorne has bright green skin and dark red horns, guaranteed to make him stand out in any crowd-- which is why he's always preferred to stick to certain social circles, staying figuratively underground and opting for demon-friendly locales as much as possible. His skin is mottled with darker green near his hairline and along his neck, and presumably under his clothes as well, though he's rarely ever seen in anything other tan a brightly-colored suit or a loud shirt and slacks. He has very distinct red eyes and brown hair that he keeps cut reasonably short with the tips lightened. He's admitted to wearing eyeliner and, occasionally, blush. Contouring is very important.

Character's Species/Race: Pylean Deathwok Demon

Character History (Pre-Veil): Lorne @ the Buffy & Angel Wiki
Post Veil History:
It's been roughly a year and a half all told since Lorne came through the veil. He arrived in California-- Los Angeles, to be exact, not far from where he'd left his own version of the city, although this new LA had the bonus of not being beset upon by the armies of Hell. It took him a little time to regain his bearings, but he's no stranger to inter-dimensional travel, and once he was aware of what was going on, he was quick about doing what he could to take care of himself: gathering information, figuring out how to hide from the public eye when he had to at all, and finding a way to support himself. He started off tending bar in a club whose owner didn't seem to care that he wasn't exactly human, and it wasn't long before he started putting his own natural talents to work there as well-- reading people, offering advice, starting out by seeing the occasional client here and there only to find the demand growing as rumor spread through all the right circles.

Eventually, the club's owner decided to make Lorne manager, given that he was not only good for business but had plenty of nightclub management experience under his belt-- the business flourished under his care, and while it wasn't quite home and it wasn't the same as being back at Caritas, it was close enough that he'd become comfortable, and it almost helped him to forget the ugly note he'd left his own Los Angeles on as well as the fact that despite the sour situation he'd left behind, he missed the people that had become his family and feared for whatever consequences their own actions would have brought down upon them in his absence. All the while, he continued to grapple with guilt over the way he'd left things, and felt like a coward for hiding behind what he felt was comfortable when some part of him knew he should have been elsewhere, fighting the good fight.

At some point, in a log that is still to be written with volunteer knights who have yet to be decided on, either business or rumor is intended to lead members of the Knights of the Silver Dragon to Sanctum in LA, which has more or less become a spiritual successor to Caritas under Lorne's care. His unique abilities may be reason enough for someone to want to recruit him, but it's also likely that if he were to find out even a little bit about who they are or where they're from that he'll want to do some investigating. As comfortable as his current situation is, Lorne is a big believer in signs and the guilt of having abandoned the good fight has begun to eat away at him, enough so that either an attempt to recruit or even an opportunity to offer himself up to the knights as a fellow would-be agent of good would be appealing to him, which means however things play out, getting himself on the road to knighthood should be easy, even if it wasn't exactly something he planned for.

Chosen Canon Point: Post-5x22, "Not Fade Away"

Personality and Psychology:
Up until he worked for Wolfram & Hart alongside the rest of the Angel Investigations crew, most people who sought out Lorne’s services simply as ‘The Host,’ a title he has long lived up to by being bright and gregarious, a warm and welcoming presence happy to assist just about anyone who happened to drop by Caritas, so long as they played by the rules. Most of the time, he’s friendly and easy-going, smiling and eager to please, and as the owner of Caritas, he was especially passionate about his work: helping people get to the root of their troubles and setting them on the right path, all while sharing the joy of music with them-- win/win, as far as he was concerned. As the members of Angel Investigations took the time to get to know him as a person-- largely through a series of unfortunate and destructive events-- Lorne was found to be more than the bright, musically-inclined club owner he chose to present himself as.

Even without his psychic gifts to aid him, Lorne is incredibly insightful. With abilities like his, it would be easy to see through to someone’s heart and mind and simply tell them what he saw, but he’s shown on several occasions to help those who come to him for guidance to dig deeper, making an effort to read between the lines and help people to better interpret their own thoughts and feelings, get to their roots. He’s very open about his appreciation for humans; he loves them and the way they live and feel and even hurt, and during his years on earth, he’s become an avid people-watcher, incredibly observant and with a knack for reading people even without music, though its a bit more mundane. For someone who isn’t human, he understands the human spirit well, loves people of all kinds and shapes and sizes and is fascinated by the way they interact and connect with one another. He places a great deal of importance on feelings themselves, and strongly believes that they should be acknowledged and shared, the result of his having grown up in a miserable hell dimension where nobody talked about their feelings and everyone’s worth was measured by how hard and fast they could swing a sword, not by who they were as a person.

That said, Lorne isn’t always all smiles, hugs and heartfelt pep-talks, although he makes an effort to present himself that way to the general public. He doesn’t beat around the bush; he’s known for being direct and to the point, incredibly blunt when necessary, especially if the person he’s talking to is being evasive or in denial-- something we see on several occasions during his interactions with Angel. He’s also seen to be very bad at taking his own advice, and often has difficulty practicing what he preaches. He can be kind and tender-hearted and easily develops soft spots for the right people: it didn’t take him long at all to become comfortable with Fred; their friendship was always particularly close compared to his relationships with the rest of the gang. He can also be incredibly catty when he wants to be, and has been shown to hold grudges, often for very legitimate reasons, such as his club being destroyed or Lilah sucking images of Cordelia’s visions out of his head, but occasionally on a much smaller scale as well. He holds people accountable for their actions, and while most of the time he’s able to remain level-headed and somewhat neutral in doing so, there are times when he doesn’t have a hell of a lot of patience or kindness to spare.

While Lorne considers himself to be on the side of good, he finds it much harder to think of himself as any kind of hero, both despite and because of the company he keeps. He’s not much of a fighter, and while he has a few tricks up his sleeve for when things get hairy, he has no stomach for violence and prefers to do his part in other ways. He enjoys being useful and contributing, happy to do so by acting as a guide, which he usually manages quite well unless circumstances are dire enough that he has to step in and help with the combat side of things. If a situation has reached that point, it’s probably desperate. He has a great deal of supernatural knowledge that spans dimensions, as well as countless connections throughout the supernatural underground that make him a valuable asset. While he doesn’t have that same support system here, no doubt he’ll use that charm of his to start building a new one as soon as the opportunity arises.

As mentioned before, Lorn has a difficult time embracing violence. He considers himself to be a lover rather than a fighter and is more than a bit of a soft touch, although he does understand the necessity of violence at times. There are cases where he’ll freely admit that it’s deserved, or that it’s the best solution, though he prefers not to participate. Then there are other cases that aren’t quite so clear, such as how Angel chose to resolve things with Lindsey McDonald after the attack on the Circle of the Black Thorn. Lorne disagreed so strongly with Angel’s decision to kill Lindsey-- and even more strongly with the fact that Angel had asked him to do it-- that while he’d agreed to do this one last favor, he asked Angel not to contact him again once it was done. Though it won’t be reflected in his canon point, killing Lindsey was so wildly against his nature that Lorne later became metaphysically ill and developed a form of cancer, which is otherwise impossible for his kind.

Even with his aversion to violence, Lorne doesn’t see things in black and white. He does acknowledge good and evil, but is often quick to point out that there are a thousand other things in between, and he thinks there’s a great deal of importance in examining the gray areas in life. The team’s stay at Wolfram & Hart highlighted this; Lorne openly acknowledged that while the firm did represent and facilitate evil, that there was also a certain balance to the way things worked there, and he was willing to use the firm’s resources to do good alongside the rest of the crew despite the fact that firm itself stood for all kinds of things he didn’t agree with. He’s willing to make concessions for the greater good, when necessary, and while he won’t support active participation in evil deeds, he’s very outspoken about the importance of both maintaining balance and the delicate matter of cause and effect.

Memories Retained or Lost:
Lorne is retaining all of his canon memories with the exception to the lyrics to any and all songs by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles.

Powers and Abilities:
Lorne is gifted with a number of psychic abilities-- it's implied that most of his kind have some capacity to read people the way he does, though it's often neglected or completely ignored, especially considering music itself doesn't exist back in Pylea. Lorne is considered unique among the Deathwok for being able to both hear and appreciate music (whereas it's just cacophonous noise to everyone else), and his psychic abilities are closely tied to it. People bare their souls when they sing, and in doing so, they give Lorne a window to read their auras and help to set them on their path, find their destiny through precognition, though it's often vague. Occasionally, he'll luck out and get something very specific, but even in the event that he doesn't, he's very good at interpreting what he does see. His abilities also include empathy, lie detection and some limited telepathy, though he only has access to them when the person in question is singing or under duress, as intense emotions are almost tangible to him.

While he's not much of a fighter, Lorne does manage to use his unique gifts to defend himself from time to time. He's able to use his voice to hit frequencies that may do harm to those who hear them; he's been seen to shatter glass and also damage eardrums, as well as use his voice to stun enemies and give himself time to get away. He can potentially hold a note forever, having stated that he doesn't have to stop to breath-- though he adds that the note not changing makes it nothing more than noise instead of music. When severely sleep deprived, his ability to look into people's futures seems to reverse itself, and he has the potential to start writing their futures instead, as he found out entirely by accident when he temporarily wound up with the power to compel people through suggestion.

Lorne's physiology also grants him a number of abilities and advantages. He possesses superhuman hearing, not quite as good as a vampire's, but still considerably better than most people's. Despite the fact that he nearly always seems to be drinking, he's immune to alcohol's effects and cannot become intoxicated, though there are certain magical concoctions that can get the job done, something he feels is rarely worth the effort. He can survive both decapitation and loss of his limbs, so long as his body isn't mutilated while they're separate. Otherwise, put the pieces back together and watch him regenerate and reattach-- or don't, because it's probably unappetizing. Also, while it doesn't count as a power, it's probably worth noting that his heart is in his left buttcheek.

Any other important information (including special inventory items in their possession):
Nothing terribly significant, just his wallet and its contents along with his MP3 player. He travels light, and despite being a demon, he prefers to keep things as mundane as possible. He'd like to send for his suits first chance he gets, though-- some of those are custom-made.

Why do you think this character would join/work with the Knights?
A few years ago, Lorne would have done almost anything to keep his to himself and watch other, more qualified people fight the good fight from the sidelines. Times have changed, and Lorne has been shaped by the time he spent with the Angel Investigations crew, though it's more than their influence that would make him agree to lending the Knights his talents, even if it might take a tiny bit of convincing. Guilt has been a real problem for him since leaving Los Angeles, with his last act in Angel's employ being radically out of character for him, as well as being the reason he chose to distance himself from the rest of the team. It's weighed on him heavily, along with the fact that he feels like he did a lot more harm than good in the year they spent with Wolfram & Hart. He doesn't consider himself Champion material, but he makes a great guide and does well playing support, and the way he sees it? He kind of owes the universe a little good karma.

Do you have a preference for which member of the Knights your character is squired to?
No preference, surprise me!
