I got sucked into doing a ghostwriting gig, even though I did one before and swore I never would again. I thought when I first did ghostwriting that it would be kind of like writing fanfic--you're writing a story, but in someone else's world. But the cool thing about fanfic is that it's about your interpretation of someone else's world. Ghostwriting is about someone who doesn't know anything about written storytelling (or else they'd write the thing themselves) being constantly exasperated that your interpretations of the bare-bones details they've given you don't match their own vision. And then ignoring your clarifying questions.
I am really hoping to find a local full-time job soon, at which point I would feel very comfortable bowing out of this project. I've been doing the part-time/freelance hustle for a few years now, and I'm pretty tired of it; the good news is that I'm finally somewhere I want to put down roots, so something more stable and locally-based would be a good fit.
I recently learned to play cribbage! I learned it from someone I met on OkCupid--we quickly decided that we weren't interested in dating but were both totally down to go to coffeeshops and play board games. She left town a few weeks after we met, but the last time we hung out, she brought a cribbage board and taught me to play. I was mostly baffled--it's not like any other card game I've ever encountered. But then a week later, I went to see a friend of mine from Philly who has also moved down here, and after we'd hung out for an hour or two, they asked if I knew how to play cribbage, and I said, well, yes, yes I do. I just found a computer version, and though I ultimately want to do more with my life than play cards with a computer, I feel like I am Learning Skills and it is very satisfying.
Fandom literacy question: I've been watching the new season of Community and would love to find people who are talking fannishly about said season. I am... not actually sure how to do this. Thoughts?

One of these days I've got to get around to learning cribbage. When I was in college my friends group went through a big canasta phase and we played that a lot, so I got pretty decent. Was cribbage fairly straightforward to learn?

Cribbage is reasonably learnable. I got the game mechanics after playing through a couple of games with more experienced players, but (as with any good game, really) getting good at it takes a while. A lifetime to master, and all that. :)

We just won't mention the fact that I initially read this post while alt-tabbed from an online card game. I was playing against a person though! They were just taking a long time to take their turn. >_>

Hee hee. What game?
(Ugh. Ghostwriting is the worst.)

Hearthstone. It's the only card game I play online. When I was in high school some of my friends actually played online cribbage (perhaps a slightly offbeat hobby for high school boys) but for some reason I never got into it.
