THERE IS ALWAYS A SOLUTION. Van is not the sort of man that can deal with unsolvable problems (maybe shelf them aside, decide they're not worth the effort at the moment, but he's not capable of letting them just go); there has to be a solution to them. He felt a great deal of responsibility for Dawn's wellbeing, since everyone hammered it into him just how badly he hurt the boy...and then he learned that he created him and well. If he's done something to destroy him so utterly than he should also be the one able to fix it!

Only people don't actually work that way. One damage like that is done, it can't be repaired and it is a maddening situation. It's not a problem he can fix, so he just...would rather the problem either not exist or not be his concern. If Dawn just hated him, then he could at least return the favor and give no fucks about it or find another, easier solution. But no, everyone has to care about him for reasons he doesn't understand and he has to deal with the fact that he's harmed all these people who love him despite everything he's done. They'll never truly be happy while he's here, but they won't be happy when he's gone either. He doesn't know how to fix things and he's been told it's impossible, but he doesn't want to accept that.

...And it's honestly infuriating that Dawn seems fine with just accepting things as is and simply giving in to all this. Especially when that acceptance that things simply won't change is...uncomfortable. He doesn't have the context yet to truly despise Dawn for being so pathetically content in his powerlessness, but he certainly has no respect for it either. (All that while rationally being aware that Dawn's current state is entirely his fault, even if he can't remember the specific. But rational thought isn't exactly Van's strongest trait.)

Basically, Van just wishes he was hated so he could have had an easy way out of this mess.

...That is an excellent point.

AND HAHAHA, um. Van has (...had?) a wee bit of a crush on Guy, primarily cause Guy was from his world and they had a connection previously and he really wanted to bring that back. And he's...been approaching Guy and talking to him and giving him flowers all in the hopes that they could have some bond to share. The kiss and how terribly that went just proved that the bond they had is never going to come back.

Which is a bit depressing but he may have just accepted it as is. Guy ended that note on "Sorry, you've been too terrible in the past for that" and well...Possibly it would've been best had they never kissed at all but, again, it's too late for that. So that Guy kiss just very nicely compounds into the issues he's had with Dawn and he's just...got so much baggage to deal with, it's easier to drop ignore the foolish crush than to try and do anything about it.

Lucifer sees Cass mostly as a curious, weak willed, naive young girl who is generally looking for guidance, but is prone to fits of petulance, self-doubt, and misguided attempts to be assertive. He likes her because she is easy to manipulate and talk to, and doesn't really care that sometimes she just hits a mood of "no, fuck YOU Lucifer", he considers her a key component of Peridot, if more of an auxiliary branch than a supporting one, and likes that it is relatively easy to see where she put herself on games. Basically, Cass is pretty effortless for Lucifer, which is good, because a lot of Peridot is relatively high maintenance and Cass is a nice break from that.

He doesn't personally have much connection to her beyond the user/used relationship, or sometimes observer/observed. And for him their conversations are mostly about getting Cass in the habit of accepting advice from him and being honest with him, is generally not pushing her in any particular direction because he doesn't particularly mind what shape she takes. But if she is is a tool comfortable in his grip, all the better (=

THINGS LUCIFER IS AWARE OF
1- LULU FUCKING ADORES NUNNALLY and would do anything for her and is terrified of losing her or alienating her in any way. He thinks she is probably key to a lot of Lulu's insecurities about him being what he is.

2- Nunnally loves and is super dependent on her brother but will achieve independence if it is necessary to do something for him. She wants him safely by her side so much that she will destroy whatever else he is working on to achieve that.

3- While Lucifer does not know the details of Lulu's world conquering plans, he is quite certain that if Lulu got over his insecurities and was just open with his sister he would be 90% better in every way.

4- He is 99% sure that if both siblings were open and honest with each other, Nunnally could own Lulu down any path of her choosing. They have a highly reasonable chance of coming out of such a discussion fairly happy!

5- HOWEVER, both are so dependent on their lies and illusions that they would rather be honest with fucking Lucifer than each other, the irony is not lost on Lucifer.

6- Lucifer COULD tell Nunnally all this but he can't because Lulu Geassed him 8D; So he has every excuse to not be outright helpful and just pick and poke things and lol

7- Because he can't tell Nunnally all this, he won't tell Lulu any of it either. He has no intention of spilling either of their secrets.

8- He is basically curious to see how far they go in overtly being lol lovey lovey siblings while subversely basically trying to destroy each other. He isn't aware that they had a total makeout session but if he was that would just be icing on the cake.

9- That said, due to the restrictive nature of Aather and Lucifer's personal suspicions that people who arrive in Aather are most often taken from the end of their own personal stories (meaning Nunnally and Lulu may eventually simply remember enough to finally have an honest conversation), he is pretty aware they will reach a good end in the long run. But this is another thing he isn't telling either of them.

HILARIOUSLY this is shit that Kira would find super tiring and stupid and obnoxious. But Lucifer, lacking enough memories to be really bored by this stuff already, finds it pretty entertaining.

WELL. kind of yes and kind of no. Acedia's love confession was a big deal! And for anyone who had self worth it also be really personally validating, I think. I think it's mostly that Dawn really doesn't have a good read on Chariot =|a It's a thing that takes him a while to develop with people! He will eventually figure out their tells, actually, and be very good at spotting them, but he has no intuition for it. So he really had NO IDEA that Chariot has issues with romance and no idea that Chariot has feels for him. Chariot has mostly been a friend who he wants to support and enjoys hanging out with! But because Chariot is all WALLS WALLS WALLS without acting like it, there wasn't a lot there to really hold onto.

It's always been a WEIRD SITUATION for Dawn, because Chariot will kiss him like there are lots of feelings and then... everything else is really mild and simple '-'? CONFUSING. And it might go back to that after the sex idk. Because chances are good Dawn still won't have a good foothold. I don't think there is much new here =|a Lucy finds Yuri genuinely pretty decent company, but he has a major failing in that he sort of just... doesn't pursue things. He had that whole obvious inability to confront his issues with murder, and then clearly wanting to have sex with Lucifer but never really going after it, etc. LUCIFER DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THIS because he just, takes or does whatever he wants. But he appreciates that at the very least Yuri is easy to get along with and comfortable in general.
