Greetings new members! I am pleased to have y'all here.

If you're interested, feel free to post a bit about yourself, what brought you over to [community profile] journalists, why you decided to join and what sort of expectations (if any) you have for this community.

For myself:

I am currently a journalist on hiatus. I worked for a small, community paper for about 9 months before I was laid-off. Bummer.

I created [community profile] journalists after the giant brouhaha over at LiveJournal. Before creating [community profile] journalists here at DreamWidth, I was/am an active member of the "Journalists" community on LiveJournal.

NPR staff told to stay away from Colbert, Stewart rallies if not covering them

I get why NPR is doing this and am aware it's not the first organization to issue such a memo.

However, I don't recall hearing about a similar memo go out in regards to the Tea Party rallies earlier this year.

Thoughts? Comments?

Greetings and salutations!

This brand-spanking-new community is in the works for the time being, but I'll do my best to get it up and running within a few days. I'm a LiveJournal refugee and noticed DW lacked a group for any journalists that may be lurking around. For shame!

My goal for this community is to be a space for professional journalists, journalism students and all other folks working within journalism to discuss, rant, vent, etc.
