War strategy/tactics

LET THE WAR GAMES BEGIN no really this is just how to wage war, which includes field battle, guerrilla to some degree, and siege. Edmund previously only had some of his experience in this back, but now he has the theory for it.

It's just too bad the game he gets this from was a castle defense game. :'Da If only this had come before.

So all that verbal history of Narnia's? All the culture of the Golden Era that would've been popular or traditional? He remembers it. All of it.

And a good chunk of it is sung. Not that I'm ever going to write songs because I fail at that sort of thing, but the point is singing and story telling. Most of it is with a somewhat campfire with soldiers or at a party flair rather than a courtly one, though.

It's... dagger throwing. He's got good aim and an excellent speed, but he won't gain pinpoint aim with this. (Ie if he's aiming for the forehead, he may hit anywhere on the forehead, but the chances of hitting directly between the eyes are slim.) Lucy is the best at daggers for obvious reasons.

He'll get a small set three of throwing daggers.

Edmund has his personal notetaking skills back!! Actually it's just a secret code that lets him write quickly in symbols, letters, and random made up glyphs that make sense only to him. Because of the format, he can manage taking notes word-for-word on conversations, but he's still likely to just paraphrase unless he finds the wording important. Unless he decides to teach it to people, which he might, it's going to take some work to break it.

I am not actually going to write out what it is explicitly because that is a lot of work. '-'

Narnian

I WANT TO SAY THEY HAVE THEIR OWN LANGUAGE, but frankly I have no way to prove it other than that's what I suspect is possible because seriously. Talking Beasts, dryads, naiads, fauns, dwarves, centaurs... if nothing else there are dialects.

The most visible part of this skill is that Edmund's accent will change from a distinctly British accent to something with more of a lilt. It's a mostly subtle difference, though, so whether you want to notice the change or not is up to you.

Though depending on situations, he might pull out the naught = naughty and other little vocabulary differences as well.

Whist

Edmund has a deck of cards and can play whist. '-' It's really that simple.

CHESS

This comes with a really nice Narnian chess set, hand carved/molded/etc. So the chess board is solid wood in alternating wood types and the actual chessmen are gold and silver... looking. I seriously doubt they're solid gold and silver, but they're close. Anyway it looks fancy.

And because I actually fail at chess, most chess matches with Ed will be kinda handwavey. Still, he'll gladly teach anyone, and he's a pretty good player. He's not champion level, but he's definitely in the expert range, so you'll get a good game out of him.

Also by sheer hilarity, because he got the memory of discovering the ruins of Cair Paravel, this will actually kind of work as a trivial negative. He'll be kind of sad, but nostalgic while toying with the chess pieces. But if you're really lucky, you might see him messing with the cats and making them look like they're trying to play chess.

Coffee Brewing

This is mostly a headcanon-ish skill, but man. When you're king for that long and called The Just, you just know there were ridiculous number of hours put into studying laws, provisions, and such. Gotta stay awake, and sometimes tea just isn't the right thing. Especially with overseeing the proper adjustments from the White Witch's reign to theirs involving the Lone Islands. Let's not even touch on Archenland and Calormen. When in doubt, coffee.

Edmund will gain the skill to brew coffee with a small vacuum brewer that he'll get, large enough to make 2-3 cups of coffee. (Attempts to upgrade his knowledge of coffee makers is outside of this skill.) His preference is for black with just a touch of cream and sugar, but can and will forgo the niceties if in dire need.

Congrats, Sterling, there will be fresh coffee at dawn if you wake up early enough to snag a cup.

Court dancing

ALL THE DANCING! This will include dancing from Narnia, Archenland, a vague sense from Calormen, and the waltz because you know Susan probably dragged him along to some as company. Studious avoidance of the more... active... dances from his time in England. He's a fair dancer, but it's not something he wholly enjoys. He just knows them because sometimes you need to not offend someone by refusing.

Now he owes Sharon some dancing. A-at least Break isn't here to try and kick his ass when he goes to do so. '^'

Swordplay
All that training as a king and growing up has now kicked in, which will be hilarious right on top of Sion's training since he started here. On the upside, he now has a swordbelt, complete with a tooled and mostly utilitarian-designed leather sheath and Narnian sword. You can see them here. It's the broadsword in his left hand, and the sheath at his belt.

For the record, Edmund is preferentially right handed, though apparently he can double... wield... I guess... idk how to handle that yet other than he may steal your sword in the middle of battle to abuse.
justaking: (I look ridiculous)
Tea brewing
No, seriously

Edmund can now make a damn good cup of tea, if on the strong side. Preferentially Earl Grey, but given a try of some other type of tea, he will do decent at those. The strength is rather similar to how he'll want his coffee - on the strong side.

Likes: Earl Grey with a touch of sugar and milk.

PS: Also note that from the same game, he now has a wooden cat figure and a paper cat cutout. Both are displayed rather nicely in his room... wherever it is now... idk
