Find a tutor
Through the USask Tutoring Network, you can hire a subject-specific tutor who is a current student or a recent alumnus who has achieved 80% or higher in the courses they tutor. View our online resource with tips on how to get the most out of your tutoring experience.
Become a tutor
If you are a current student or recent alumni looking for an opportunity to earn some extra money and help USask students, consider becoming a subject tutor in our USask Tutoring Network.
Please note - As a subject tutor you are self-employed and not an employee of USask. Responsibility for arranging financial payment will be between yourself and the students you are tutoring.
Eligibility
To register as a subject tutor through the USask Tutoring Network you must:
- Be a current USask student or a recent USask Alumnus who has taken the course within the past 5 years with an active NSID.
- Have a mark of 80% or more in the course(s) you want to tutor*.
- Agree to allow the USask Tutoring Network administrators to access your USask transcripts or, if needed, email us your transcripts from another institution along with a list of the corresponding USask courses when you submit your application. Information about transfer credits can be found on the USask Admissions website.
*Please note that a student's overall academic performance may be taken into consideration prior to approval
Getting started
Set up your tutor account
- Create a "host" profile
- Check the box in the host profile section that allows administrators to confirm your grade(s).
- Familiarize yourself with the USask Tutoring Network platform and add your availability.
- Questions about the platform? Read the platform tutor guide.
Prepare to meet with students
- Set up your USask Zoom account, if you are a current student, to host online sessions or book a study room in one of the libraries on campus to meet in person.
- Alumni are welcome to use TutorOcean Classroom for their online sessions.
- Please note that chat logs are periodically monitored by administrators.
Alumni
The university is discontinuing alumni access to university email accounts. While your university email address will still display in your tutoring network profile, this does not mean you currently have access to that inbox.
Alumni tutors will still be able to log in to the tutoring network using their regular credentials; however, you will not be able to update or change the default email address listed in your profile. Because email notifications will no longer be delivered to your university email, you may not receive alerts when you receive tutoring requests, messages from student clients, or other platform notifications.
To ensure timely communication, we strongly encourage student clients to contact tutors directly through the tutoring network messaging system, rather than by email. We also recommend that alumni tutors log in to the tutoring network regularly, monitor messages and requests within the platform, and maintain an active presence to avoid missing communications.
We understand this change may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your continued support of student learning through the tutoring network.
