The current google rating, in my opinion, accounts for the fact that there are not many alternatives in the area. Room is great. Nicely designed and very spacious. The rest of the hotel facilities simply clash with the quality of the room. Also not much to do in the area beyond a 3-4 days stay max (imo)… many time the minimum stay at the hotel is a full week. Keep in mind the weather is very variable, and given the position of the hotel, hours of direct sun are limited. Lastly the food is not good and quite expensive, not nearly up to expectations given the level of this hotel. The menu doesn’t change, and it’s not remotely comparable in terms of quality to hotels in a similar price range (eg Rockhouse Hotel). Service and staff are very nice but also quite slow and inefficient. If you are looking to spend time at the beach, consider that all of the beaches nearby cost $40-50/day per person, and the hotel’s beach is very small and not well equipped. In hindsight, I would not consider another stay.
I had such an amazing time at Geejam!! If you are looking for a tranquil atmostphere with great service, exquisite food and picturesque scenery, this is it!! After planning the birthday decor and festivities with Jada from guest services every detail was perfectly executed. We even went on a very insightful studio tour with the Hotel Manager Newton, it was so much fun! I can’t say it enough, the food was to die for! We will definitely be back!!
We spent three nights at Sansan Villa and had a truly memorable experience. The villa itself is clean, spacious, and extremely quiet, with a breathtaking sunrise view of the sea and the gentle sound of birds in the mornings. The private pool was well-maintained and made for relaxing afternoon and nighttime soaks. Staff were very welcoming and attentive, and our room service order arrived quickly. The food was delicious, particularly the complimentary Jamaican breakfast which was a standout. However, those following a vegetarian diet should be aware that the menu is a bit limited in options. One of the highlights of our stay was spending hours at the villa’s cove—it’s a unique spot, but do note that reaching it requires descending 270 steps, which is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.Overall, Geejam Hotel is an excellent choice for anyone seeking peace, privacy, and stunning views in Portland. I would definitely visit again.
