can't install tokei
I am trying to install tokei in Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS wsl machine. I ran:
cargo install tokei
And I got:
Downloaded grep-matcher v0.1.8 error: failed to compile
tokei v14.0.0, intermediate artifacts can be found at/tmp/cargo-installJBFjRf.
To reuse those artifacts with a future compilation, set the environment variableCARGO_TARGET_DIRto that path.Caused by:

featureedition2024is requiredThe package requires the Cargo feature called
edition2024, but that feature is not stabilized in this version of Cargo (1.75.0).
Consider trying a more recent nightly release. See https://doc.rust-lang.org/nightly/cargo/reference/unstable.html#edition-2024 for more information about the status of this feature.
How can I solve this?

Your Cargo version is too old. I just installed Cargo on a blank Ubuntu 24.04 and got version 1.92.0, where the installation of tokei 14 worked flawlessly.
You can use the following command to update cargo to the latest version:
rustup update
