Max is a private internet environment designed to empower you, create a sense of freedom, help you regain personal control and agency, and ultimately redefine what it means to go online.

Why Max exists

Max was created for people who want a calmer, cleaner, and more private online experience. Max is about promoting freedom and helping people find ways to push back against surveillance. Max should help you decide what you see and read, not others.

From our founder

Max was founded as a response to the rise of surveillance capitalism and the systems that shape what people see online.

I founded Max in protest against online surveillance capitalism. I did not want algorithms controlling my experiences or influencing my freedoms. I did not want people to be exposed to behavioural profiling or data theft.

This is why I built Max. To return agency and security to individuals. To support curiosity and self-determination. To make it possible to explore the internet without hidden manipulation.

The internet was created as a liberating technology filled with hope, creativity and possibility. Over time, that promise has been betrayed.

Max does not maintain logs of online activity and does not sell or share personal data. Any functional diagnostics gathered to improve performance are minimal, temporary and removed when no longer needed.

We honour our mission by saying “no more” to the greedy global surveillance economy by buildings platforms that shut this out once and for all. Most importantly, we do this for everybody, regardless of location, socioeconomic conditions or technical skills.

Our Values

Digital Ownership: We believe individuals should have full control and ownership over their digital lives including their own sensitive personal data, their own IP, identity, communications and all online interactions. Sovereignty is not a feature to be configured but a foundation to be built upon.
Extreme Privacy by Design: Privacy is the foundational default and not an add-on. Our architecture ensures that communications and online activities are protected from surveillance and all sensitive personal information remains under the user’s control.
Freedom, Empowerment and Agency: We are totally committed to freedom from surveillance, censorship, profiling and manipulation. Freedom to think, share and be creative without fear of censorship. We should empower and liberate, not control. True sovereignty delivers this.
