I will be glad when tomorrow is over. Normally I have about five days to work on manuscripts; because of the advanced holiday schedule this week I'll have three. I meant to do some work over the weekend and didn't- last night I went to bed as soon as I got home from dinner. I've got to try to get up early tomorrow so I can vote before going in to work.

I had my first real working session with Marie this evening. We've decided to meet in my apartment; unfortunately it was the only convenient place that is available. She didn't seem to mind the mess, thank goodness. We just did listening exercises to review material she had covered with her previous tutor. I think she wasn't used to doing them, because she asked me why we were doing it that way (instead of having her read and write words). It was interesting that she could reading a word like stop easily, but she had trouble identifying the sounds and letters just from hearing it. She also admitted she has trouble writing a word that has been dictated to her. Fortunately for me I have enough material planned for another week or so; I was worried she would finish the entire review tonight and then I'd have to prepare new stuff for Wednesday.
