Jan. 30th, 2007 05:31 pmI took the advice of a few friends and downloaded Quicken. True to form, I haven't found it easy to use or intuitive. I've got almost a month's worth of expenses in it, and I confess the geek in me likes having data and charts. No surprises yet- housing and medical compose 75% of my expenses. I don't see those chunks getting smaller any time soon, either.
Regardless, I still hope to take a few trips this year. I've nixed a spring trip to San Antonio because I'll need that money to pay my health insurance deductible. So I'm left with:
-Raleigh-Durham area, April (definite- Beth's wedding)
-Chicago, May (David and I are trying to see if we can go together.)
-Alaska, July or August (I just found out an aunt I haven't seen since high school graduation is being treated for lung cancer. Also, David has friends there.)
-San Antonio, probably September (mom's 60th birthday)
-Dallas-Ft. Worth, October or November (depending on the timing of the S.A. trip)
Five trips. That's really a lot for a lady who cries poor. And except for the wedding, I haven't counted road trips. David and I keep talking about going back to New York City, I still want to see Pittsburgh, and we have a lot of places where we'd like to go camping.

Date: 2007-01-31 01:34 am (UTC)Chicago in May will be wonderful!
I loved Alaska, although I am sorry to hear about your aunt, and I know that tinges it a bit.
San Antonio!
DFW in late October is the best time to be there.
The good thing is that even if you only make 2 or 3 you'll still have had a great travel year.

Date: 2007-01-31 03:44 pm (UTC)I think David and I will be back in TN to visit his mom at least once this year, so if we can't meet in NC perhaps we can meet in Knoxville.
