Jul. 6th, 2002 09:20 pmI would really like to have people over for dinner. I've spent the past three nights at Michael's place, and I feel like it's been too long since I've done things that I wanted to do. Not that spending time with him is something I don't want to do, but time spent together usually means time spent doing Michael things. This is a pattern I've noticed with all men I've dated. They are generally resistant to try new things, whereas I am usually willing to try their hobbies or habits. For example, I have been wanting to see the Silk Road festival at the Smithsonian Institution. I couldn't interest Michael in seeing it at all. Fortunately, Andrea's brother hasn't seen it either and wants to, so we're going tomorrow (on the last day!). Anyway, so when I'm in a relationship I often feel I'm losing myself in the other person, which isn't good but I'm not sure how to keep from doing it. I am naturally curious and interested in unfamiliar things.
We ate at a French restaurant Wednesday night. It was delicious. The next day we ate lunch at a rather, um, casual eating establishment where I finished off an order of chili cheese fries. French cuisine, American food- it was all really good.
