D. called again and cancelled tutoring this morning. I hate to admit it, but I think Michael's right. I bet D. calls every Saturday to cancel, and if he doesn't talk to me then he shows up. I just hate the idea that D. doesn't want to tell me he wants to stop tutoring. I mean, it's a volunteer thing. No one gets paid, so if one person doesn't want to be there, no harm done. Anyway, I can understand. He wasn't married at the start, and it was his employer (the one he's thinking about leaving) that signed him up for literacy tutoring.
I was pretty productive despite sleeping most of the afternoon. I cleaned up the apartment a bit and finished the dress I'd started a month or so ago. I wanted to work on the baby mat cover for Ponoma but wanted to ask her some more questions before cutting the fabric. I also listened to the recording of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo that I bought in Philly. It's the first baroque opera I've listened to from start to finish. Interesting. Those poor singers- some of the vocal lines just went on and on and on. I thought only Bach did that to his singers.
And it was cloudy most of the day, rained a bit too. A good day to stay inside, but I could still feel the dampness creeping inside this afternoon. I can understand why dehumidifiers are popular in this area. Dehumidifiers in the summer, humidifiers in the winter- we're never satisfied, are we?
