xalted99 sent me a link on Friday to a goat cheese and fig tartlettes recipe. Inspired, I picked up an 8-ounce tub of goat cheese flavored with herbes de Provence at the farmers market Saturday morning (which almost made up for the absence of plums at said farmers market. No plums! Even the supermarket has Italian plums, for heaven's sake!).
Microbie's lazy gourmet:
Cut six very ripe figs in half longitudinally. [If they're not very ripe, leave them on your counter for a day. They'll ripen.] Top with small scoop of goat cheese. Broil for a couple minutes. [I did this in my toaster oven because it was too warm for the regular oven.] Devour. Might need a small amount of bread to soak up juices.
Obviously this could be much more complicated (add walnuts, drizzle with pomegranate syrup, cut out circles of puff pastry and set each fig half on a circle, etc.).
Oh, and I asked to go to a one-day conference in Boston in mid-October. I have no other travel plans until April in Paris, so I hope I get to go. I'll probably take a day or two on either side to explore Boston. I haven't been there since I dated a guy at Brown. Boston traffic was better than that boyfriend was.
