(mumble mumble) blade works

The Forge is a converted outbuilding on the grounds of the Kyoto Base, which LILITH has graciously permitted Muramasa to set up shop in for his work. Though it took the greater part of a month to repair the damaged, abandoned building, he has managed to transform the structure into a functional place to make swords (and just about any other kind of item you want, if you don't mind waiting for him to craft it by hand). Muramasa's forge was supposed to be a hermitage for him to have for himself to do his work without interruption, but his Emiya Household Effect lax attitude about permitting guests and the magically safe and comfortable ambiance created by the barrier that appeared over the building means it's almost become a sort of social hub.

(People keep having crash outs and sleeping over, or crying in his yard, and he just keeps letting it happen?)

The building itself sits in an isolated corner of the base grounds, distanced from the other facilities that LILITH maintains; far enough from the sleeping quarters that late risers are not disturbed by the sound of early-morning hammering, but close enough that it's easy to spot and visit. Visitors to Kyoto can easily be directed to the forge by any of the LILITH staff on site, who are quite familiar with Muramasa's projects and work, as well as the parade of customers and suppliers he has engaged in the time since the construction finished.

From far away, the details of the building seem slightly fuzzy, the image distorted by the barrier's transparent hemisphere of power extending out in all directions from the structure, but that can be chalked up to weather. Up close, the barrier becomes even harder to see, until it ripples gently like a stone disturbing the glassy surface of a still lake when someone steps through — or bounces right off of it. The barrier may even be entirely invisible to those without any sense for magic or spiritual bullshit. The ambient power inside the barrier's threshold is hard to detect but welcoming — a steady undercurrent of mana that fills the air and helps restore energy. Visitors who make it over the threshold will also realize that it feels safe and peaceful inside (regardless of the noise happening outside the safe perimeter) and that whatever is protecting the forge doesn't stop the natural flow of air or power.

The structure itself is relatively small, with the main workshop adjoining sitting and storage rooms restored in a (painfully archaic!) traditional style. A wide engawa and gently sloping tile roof typical of a temple building protect the sliding screen doors from the rain. A small woodshed is full of a small mountain of stark black charcoal, waiting to be cut into usable pieces, and a pile of scrap metal (rusty nails, old bike chains, stolen rebar from abandoned buildings, damaged drone plating, broken LILITH-issued blades, and an entire driveshaft from an old car that you shouldn't ask about) sits under a tarp behind the woodshed, waiting to be melted down.

Inside the building are three areas: the workroom, the sitting room, and the storage room/temporary crash out resident sleeping area. The workroom is almost a perfect recreation of a smithy from Muramasa's time, with a dirt floor (nice and fireproof) and wooden walls (not fireproof!), an assortment of hammers and tongs, a sturdy anvil, a hearth with a specially built box bellows to one side, and baskets of cut charcoal or melted down iron ready to be forged into new orders. Finished blades, each one a masterwork that is easily worth hundreds of thousands in krypto are churned out with a regularity that would be impossible for a mortal, modern smith — disatisfied with the regular quality of craftsmanship in the LILITH-issued weaponry, Muramasa will make weapons for any outsider willing to bring him material and pay for his time (read: enough snacks to feed his children during the time it takes to do the work). Prices are cheap, rarely more than 100 to 200 USD, but customers who want something more artful than utilitarian can pay up to $800. He is not making a profit off this shit, it's all for love of the game.

[ describe the sitting room ]

As time has gone on, the storage room has become slightly cluttered by carefully organized salvage. A large chest of drawers, antique by the looks of it but in shockingly good condition (note: restored by magical means), holds many of the smaller essential crafting items, and a carefully rationed pile of rawhide rayskin sits in a basket next to some of the melted down iron ingots. The forge's lone loaned futon (as a Servant, Muramasa doesn't need to sleep, and is perfectly content to spend 24 hours a day working) is also stored here, and whoever is staying over can use the storage room as a sleeping area.

Muramasa can almost always be found somewhere in the forge, barring occasions where LILITH has assigned him other work to do, he's off foraging scrap metal, or when his errant teenagers have coaxed him out into town for adventures.
the barrier.
Territory Creation (A) "Muramasa uses his own workshop, his forge, as his base. Obviously this skill is different from what mages use, but this Caster class skill is thought to have been granted to him upon his manifestation as a Servant as an interpretation of his abilities. He possesses an unparalleled Territory Creation ability, as he was an eminent craftsman."

The barrier around the forge is one that serves two purposes: to provide magical energy for Muramasa to feed off of in the absence of a mage he can contract to, and to repel spirits and/or malevolent entities. What counts as a malevolent entity? JJK characters, usually, but any significant spiritual presence or sufficient bad vibes and fuckery can make a visitor or guest unable to cross the threshold unaided. And since Muramasa forgets to warn people... it happens frequently. Muramasa, or any of those with an item that he's forged can help the bonkees cross the barrier as needed with a simple touch.
