Quick OC Info
NAME: Nadir
AGE: 21
SPECIES: Kitsune
GENDER: IDs as male, but he's pretty genderfluid and in fact enjoys being in either genders' body when shapeshifting into a human.
HEIGHT: 5'9"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: He'll mostly be in his fox form, which is basically just a fox anthro. Orange fur, brown-black socks and ears, white markings on face and stomach, and a long fox tail. His human appearances are listed below in the powers section.
EYES: Yellow
QUICK PERSONALITY: Pretty happy-go-lucky, a bit oblivious and dumb but makes up for it with friendliness and desire to help, very in touch with his emotions to a sometimes negative degree where he will be too blunt or fly into a rage, etc.
He's had some recent trauma that's made him a little more prone to serious moments and doubt, but he'll be pretty desperate to ignore a potentially bad decision he had made before being pulled away from his world to whatever RP I put him into.
He may come off as very naive, having a blindspot for things "normal" people are aware of, as he's been world traveling as a hero since he was around 13 so he hasn't had the same education or cultural milestones and touchpoints others have had, which leads to him asking questions that sound dumb or outright childish, being unaware of social norms or mannerisms, or about things like jobs, finances, etc.
POWERS: He has a number of powers as a kitsune, but some he's better at than others, or just plain can't do.
- FLYING: He can fly without much hindrance. He can float in one place, or speed along after someone. However, if he gets very distracted he can start falling out of the air, but that's a more rare occurrence at this age than when he was younger.
- FIRE: He can generate fire from his hands, feet, mouth and tail. He can control the temperature of the heat as long as it's still "attached" to him, eg, if he accidentally sets your curtains on fire, it's no longer a part of him and they will burn normally. But when in a fight he prefers to start with scare tactics making people think they will get burned, but if the foe is too strong to fall for that bluff he will turn up the heat. He can throw or spit the fire at targets.
- SHAPE-SHIFTING: The only forms he's been able to successfully turn into are a human and a toaster. If he tries to change into another inanimate object it may be the right shape but will most likely also be covered in fur and with a fox tail. As a human he can change into either a man or a woman, and he can put on any combination of appearances. He cannot, however, directly copy another person's apperance. If he tries, something will be noticeably off about it, like an eye is too large or missing a nose. He does have "default" forms when changing into a human, and they very much look like his a mix of his humanoid friends, but with orange hair with black streaks and yellow eyes. He also can't get rid of his tail as a human, so it's pretty easy to tell he's not a human unless he's hiding it somehow, like in a dress or under a long coat. He can have fox ears on top of his human head if he's feeling particularly kenomimi that day.
- ILLUSIONS: He can do small illusions, like a butterfly, but nothing much else. He might be able to learn it some time, but he puts most of his training efforts into physical attributes.
- INVISIBILITY: He's never been able to do this.
- POSSESSION: He can do this, but it's very difficult for him to do, and he doesn't like to do it because it feels very manipulative and evil.
GENERAL ABILITIES: He's generally stronger and faster than an average person, and has also trained over the years in physical fighting, namely in a frantic kickboxing sort of style.
QUICK?? HISTORY: He hails from an alternate universe where basically all myths and legends from Earth live and thrive. It's a strange world of fantasy with old and new civilizations dotted all over the lands, and monsters and bad guys that need stopping. Along with mythological sorts of bad guys, there's been an invasion of sorts of other creatures that don't quite fit in with any of the other species there. If Nadir's world were to be aware of our dimension and how their world was built from our ancient stories, they would begin to realize that our more modern "myths" have begun to seep into their dimensional world.
Modern horror figures that have turned into their own mythos and urban legends have come into being. Creeping monsters, unknowable terrors, ghosts and creatures that come out of the ether to terrorize and slip away again. (Think along the lines of Cthulhu and creepypasta like Slenderman that have become so prevalent.)
Nadir himself had ideals of being a roaming hero, like other kitsune were known to be in his world. Most kitsune live together in a society, on top of a tall mountain, but Nadir was adopted by a rasselbock family after being found abandoned in a city. They had a daughter that became his very protective older sister, and he befriends a harpy and also had a naiad girlfriend, but by this point they've broken up.
Long story short for this quick history, the four of them decided to pursue the hero dream and head out to do so when they were 13/14. They've been world-trotting for several years, starting out with small problems and graduating on to larger ones, such as fighting literal giants.
When they were in grade school, a human girl had joined their class. She was "mundane", meaning just a regular human. They're actually a low population in this world, and are often seen unfavorably or even superstitiously. The city they lived in was more progressive, so this orphaned girl was sent there to be fostered, but kids can be cruel, even in open-minded cities, and she didn't have a particularly good time, and unfortunately Nadir and co were part of the problem. She ran away, and wasn't heard from again. It was one of the things that haunts them later in life, and was part of why they decided to go travel the world to help people in need.
But, she was in fact heard from again, years later, and she acts as a sort of conduit for this darkness coming into their world. She herself wasn't corrupted, but as a younger girl she saw these things as friends and family. They took care of her when no one else would. By the time Nadir and co saw her again, she had become aware that the shades weren't coming to this world as refugees in search of a new home like she had been told since childhood, and in fact had nefarious plans, but she didn't know how to stop it. In the end, the lead creature that works through her says he'll let her go if someone else takes her place. Nadir's ex-girlfriend offers herself, but Nadir forces himself in her place, a rash, spur of the moment decision that wasn't exactly thought through by him, with consequences that may be pretty bad considering his powers and how an evil creature could use them.
But, hey, just before being possessed is when he's pulled into the game I'm putting him in. So he gets to have all this time to think about what he did and how that can fuck shit up even further for everyone ever. But he didn't want someone else to suffer when he feels like he's the hero of the story and that's what should happen!!
Feel free to ask any questions!
