Character Name: Abel
So technically Abel is a codename given to him in his canon, given name Ethan. I'm gonna run with Abel being his middle name, and say he has come into the habit of using it more often than not. He has no last name provided in canon, but his father is a politician (I'm thinking senator, coming from somewhere in northern California), so Ethan A. Lastname might be a familiar name to some, which is part of why he doesn't use that if it can be helped.

What were they arrested for?: Murder in the first-degree, though I'm on the fence of whether or not it's for tampering with someone's private plane (which seems more plausible), or for having his own tampered with in a way that results in the death of another (which better mimics his canon). Either way, it's seen as intentional on his part, even if it's a crime of which Abel is actually innocent.
How long is their sentence?: 25 to life
How long have they been at Obsidian?: He's a brand new baby boy.

Character Description:
From a young age, Abel showed an interest in aviation. He was from a well-to-do family and had the means to pursue that interest. He qualified for his pilots license as soon as he was able (17) and had an aviation mechanics certification not much later (18)   the latter possible since he'd graduated high school early by testing his way through several classes.

At some point in his late teens, he had a falling out with his father, a combination of his insistent refusal to follow dear old dad into politics, and because he came out as gay on social media (which furthered the "no politics" choice). His mother was more accepting, and provided some funds that helped Abel keep his plane and access to a private airport and hangar, but out of stubbornness Abel had insisted that continued education was to be earned through his own savings and scholarship applications, so it took him some years to afford the courses. When his arrest came, he was in the middle of studying engineering with a minor focused on programming. He'd have had his diploma within the year if not for the interruption.

Long story short, prior to coming to Obsidian, he'd been working at the same airport where his plane is kept for some time, to do mechanical work and general upkeep for anyone renting space there. After years employed there, he'd been well trusted to access just about anywhere without supervision, and would often pop open maintenance hatches to look at the inner workings of different models simply to see them in life instead of on a page. Needless to say, no one ever messed with his plane (or so he thought, if I go the route that it was his being tampered with) since he was easily able to maintain it on his own. Unfortunately, this meant all heads turned his direction when a fatal incident occurred just days after Abel had a shouting match with another patron. One of the other employees there was able to recall Abel cussing the guy out, and yelling after him, "you're gonna regret doing that!". Abel had only meant that he was going to deny services to the guy after he upturned his toolbag all over the floor.

Whether I go the route of it being Abel's things that were tampered that resulted in the death or the unfortunate patron's, I'm probably gonna go the route of saying that the event had something to do with an attempt to put a huge hiccup in an upcoming campaign for good ol' political dad, since the familial connection would be made by the press even after all Abel had tried to put some distance between the two of them.

So, that's his history of how he ended up here, but for who Abel is as a person? He's a generally nice guy, very compassionate, and kind to others who are kind to him. He'll take time aside in order to comfort those going through hard times, and can be fiercely protective of those he cares about. Even though he's like that, Abel isn't not a total pushover. He's very headstrong and will get quippy with those who are unpleasant to him, and will become outright obstinate with those who are mean. He's physically weak and probably shouldn't be a guy to start throwing punches, but he doesn't shy away to doing it for those who he believes has it coming.

Abel is a book-smart person but, in part due to his upbringing having left him a little sheltered, he can be kind of dense about the way of things. For example, if he has even a little reason to assume the best of a person (which he'll be slightly more guarded towards in Obsidian), he may miss cues indicating a secret agenda or malicious intent.

Also, given the nature of his canon, he's kiiinda... extremely horny. I can't gloss over that, because it's used as a very effective manipulative tool against him in the comic.


Potential CR wanted: Abel is almost the polar opposite of my current character Felix and that leaves him open to a lot of very different CR opportunities, which is exciting. Sky's the limit (aerial pun not intended at the time of writing this but upon review I'm keeping it in) here, and I'm open for small moments of unexpected kindness, for being blind to those who want to trick him into acting on their own means, for "oh no he's hot" even if my goal here isn't to play no booty call, all the way to Abel getting knocked down and kicked until he's gonna spend a solid week under medical care.

If any castmates are interested in joining up at any point, I've tried to leave the history of that super open and I'm down to brainstorm with whomever, but for now I'll be proceeding with the assumption of no Cain, etc.
