Who We Are

We are a statewide 501(c)(3) non-profit association that represents all 100 sheriffs of North Carolina at a state and national level. For over 100 years since 1922, the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association has been serving the sheriffs and citizens of North Carolina.

The Office of Sheriff is an office with a long and proud history, dating all the way back to the early Middle Ages. The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association helps to improve the historic office and allows North Carolina sheriffs to set an example for others across the country.

What We Do

We provide resources, training and support for sheriffs and sheriffs’ offices so they can strengthen their communities and continue to provide them the best service possible. The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association is about the sheriffs, for the sheriffs, and for the benefit of the Office of Sheriff in North Carolina.

Fostering a strong relationship between all sheriffs in the state as well as the communities they serve is an essential part of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association’s responsibilities, so we provide opportunities for sheriffs to network and help one another when needed. Through the Association, sheriffs can collaborate and consult one another for advice, guidance, and support from colleagues who may have had similar experiences in their law enforcement careers and communities.
