maybe also music that helps with language learning? This was popular in a Chinese learners forum I used to moderate, but karaoke videos are much easier to come by for Chinese artists than Japanese...
Links list is a good idea. We can add it to the community, and maybe make a couple of posts to go in the memories with more extensive lists of dictionary/learning site lists.
Let's pool our bookmarks and make a starting list for the comm. :)
My favorites are: smart.fm (has all kinds of things, including language learning tools) kantango.com (Japanese to English dictionary with really good search options)
If we're compiling bookmarks, here's some of my favorites:
http://www.iknow.co.jp/ -- fantastic language learning software and community. Not just for Japanese, but there's a ton of Japanese content (and on the flip side, there's lots of Japanese users on the site to learn English, so you can make pen pals :D) edit: LOL apparently this place changed into smart.fm. I hadn't been over there in a while. (Sorry for spamming your inbox with edits, lina :D;
http://thesaurus.weblio.jp/ -- my favorite kokugo thesaurus. They also have regular kokugo, E-J/J-E, and a JP sign language dictionary with video :O
http://zokugo-dict.com/ -- Kokugo slang dictionary. Careful, a lot of the words in here are really NSFW XD;; although if no one at your work speaks Japanese, you're probably good, lol.
http://dqname.jp/ -- JP site, but a hilarious one... boggle at some of the crazy names a few Japanese parents have (supposedly) come up with. My favorite is poor 振門体(ふるもんてぃ/Fullmonty)-chan 8D;;
http://www.guidetojapanese.org/ -- Pretty good place to start for someone wanting to casually teach themselves. I find it useful to review grammar/help my friends with Japanese homework.
http://jgram.org/ -- A J-E/E-J grammar dictionary of sorts. Great for looking up grammar patterns and seeing example sentences of how they're used. It also has RSS feeds by JLPT level, so you can even get a daily random pattern on your read list :)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2471 -- world's most amazing Firefox extension. Rikaichan basically does what rikai.com does, except to use it all you have to do is toggle a button in your browser, and it's customizable and such too. It does Japanese to English, Russian, German, or French.
http://ajaxime.chasen.org/ -- Type Japanese on any computer, even if it doesn't have IME software installed. You can use the bookmarklet to make it work on nearly any web form.
http://google.com/ -- my favorite tool for writing Japanese... if you're not sure whether the phrase you're writing is grammatically correct or not, paste it into the Google and see whether people actually use it that way IRL :)
That's all I can seem to find/think of right now, lol.
