Since I am already having trouble remembering to note this in comments, I figured an announcement post would be necessary. The fourth wall event was kind of intense for Vanya (also amazing amounts of fun for me!), so there are a few changes that are going to become apparent, especially to anyone that threads with her a lot. Two of these are appearance changes making all of her icons a lie and the other is extremely spoilery


SO, in case you don't want to read all of the long explanation and want to avoid spoilers, the changes that everyone will notice are: 1)Vanya no longer has her mask and thus she won't be wearing it, 2)She has red streaks in her hair, 3) She learned some very interesting and spoilery things about herself from one of her brothers during the fourth wall event, and 4) She was told that she won't be able to be a superhero when she goes to Gotham, but she's still going to be trying to think of ways to change people's minds about that!

Again, the biggest change is: Vanya no longer has her mask and won't be wearing it for awhile! I am going to try to remember to put it in the comment the first time I thread her mask-less with any character, but after that I don't want to annoy people by always mentioning it. If I still forget, I apologize and until I put up a post saying she's wearing her mask again, please assume she doesn't have it on.



In addition, Vanya now has red streaks in her hair, courtesy of George and Necoco and Nana's advice. She's really, really excited about it since she feels like it's the first time she'll have "pretty" hair like her sister Allison. How long her hair will stay like this will really depend on other character's reactions since Vanya will immediately be nervous about it if other people don't seem to like it.

Now that she's not wearing her mask, Vanya will be wearing her uniform pretty much exclusively. Also, because they aren't in her icons, Vanya is always wearing a small sparrow-shaped pin on her sweater (it's also a communicator and her direct line to the Bat Barn) and bird hair clips. Also, so many friendship bracelets and other bracelets and the X drawn in marker on her left wrist, but those aren't usually visible due to her sweater.

AND NOW FOR SPOILERS:

Vanya found out from her brother from a further canon point that she has powers. She has actually always had powers, Hargreeves just suppressed them and made sure she didn't develop them because he was afraid of how powerful she was.

In canon, she's able to use them after being transformed into the White Violin, and they involve being able to manipulate sound waves while she plays and basically using the waves as a weapon. How exactly Vanya would acquire her powers without becoming the White Violin is unclear, and I'm sort of going to play it by ear. She is definitely going to be actively trying to figure out how to use them, though.

Vanya also learned a lot of other things from her brother and has a new perspective on Hargreeves and her siblings, and she's realized that her entire family didn't hate her, but she's reluctant to accept it still. She's also reconsidering the whole superhero thing (again!), partly because of talking to her brother about how unhappy superheros are and partly because Batman flat out told her she couldn't be one when she gets to Gotham and she said she wouldn't be if she goes there. Vanya will always choose going to Gotham and having a family that cares about her over being a superhero, but she's still stubbornly holding to the idea of being a superhero. She's hoping that she can still change enough at Camp that she'll be able to convince Batman that he's wrong. What this means is that Vanya is going to be even more confused than she usually is for awhile, until she sorts out what she really wants.

I'm likely going to be making a main community post dealing with most of these new developments tonight, and again spoilers will be rampant in that post! If you thread with Vanya a lot and want to avoid spoilers, please, please, please let me know and I will figure out a way to make that happen.
