IN CHARACTER
Name: Trish Walker
Canon: Jessica Jones
Canon Point: End of the series
Age: Can’t recall it being stated in canon, the actress playing her is currently 32 and I’m guessing the character’s age is supposed to be something similar.
History: Here
Personality:

In her youth, Trish was angry, troubled and self-destructive. While she was the highest paid child actor in television history, she was not happy in her career and would probably have quit long before she did had it not been for her controlling and abusive mother. She was abused both physically (in canon we see her bleeding from a cut that her mother gave her by either hitting her with a people’s choice award or throwing it at her) and mentally, with her mother controlling what she could eat, forcing her to always wear a wig outdoors to look like her TV character and in general treating her in a controlling and demeaning way.

We are told that Trish also developed an addiction to pills, though it is not specified what kind. Since there is mention of a doctor overprescribing my guess would be pain medication and possibly anti-anxiety meds of some kind.
As an adult Trish is addiction free, and thanks to Jessica she is also free from her mother who is no longer a part of her life, though as the series progresses Dorothy (the mother) does try to reconnect with Trish again, baiting her with the possibility of having information about how Jessica came to have her superpowers.

Trish is a very idealistic woman, with a strong belief in justice and in fighting for it. At one point after almost dying trying to save Jessica’s life, Jess says “you had to go and be a hero” to which Trish replies “I learned it from you”. Jessica saved her, and since Trish knows how lost she would have been had that not happened, she is very aware of how important it is to not just stand idly by and watch bad things happen without doing something.

She also has a bit of an inferiority complex, comparing herself to people with abilities beyond what she could ever have and strongly feeling herself to be lacking. This probably taps into similar feelings from her youth where just being herself was never enough, she had to be Patsy even though she didn’t want to be. Everything was about the image, and now the image Trish would most like to project is that of being more or less invincible, only she can’t.

She has turned her apartment into a fortress, and learned krav maga as a form of self defence. She says “nobody touches me unless I want them to”, and this is important to her. It is important to her to feel as if she can protect herself. She doesn’t want to have to rely on anyone else to keep her safe, though as the canon progresses I believe she comes to realise that this may not be possible.

Jessica is without a doubt the most important person in her life, and this relationship defines so much of who Trish is. She admires Jessica, she is jealous of Jessica. There is a love there that defies description, and she would do just about anything for her sister. The two have a very intense and complicated relationship to each other, characterized by Jessica’s attempts to shut people out to protect them, and Trish’s refusal to let that happen.

Trish is a controlling nature, a trait she has inherited from her mother even if she doesn’t want to admit it and gets insulted if comparisons are ever made between her and Dorothy. Just like much of Dorothy’s abuse was born out of a desperate wish to never go back to the poverty that was their life before Trish’s breakthrough as a child actress, Trish tries to control her environment so that nothing will hurt her again. So that she will never have to live under someone else’s control.

She is pushy, too, wanting things her way and sometimes making it so whether other people want her to or not, one example being how she gets Jessica a new window for her door in spite of Jess’ protests.

She is, in spite of this, a very kind and caring woman. She is willing to give people a second chance, and has a lot of empathy.
At her core, Trish is a very good person. She wants to do good, she wants to make the world a better place. Often she does think that she probably knows best how to accomplish that, though this has probably been tempered somewhat by her experiences with Kilgrave.

Going through that journey with Jessica, taking Kilgrave down, probably knocked the wind out of her in a big way. She had to face that there are things that she still can’t protect herself from, and that the world is an infinitely scary place. She told Jessica that she isn’t afraid of much anymore (besides clowns “but that’s just common sense”) but I believe that after what happened, she wouldn’t give that answer so easily anymore. She knows now what it’s like to have her will taken away from her, and I am convinced that she would be willing to go to great lengths to ensure that never happens again.

All the same she still has her principles that it is quite hard to make her stray from. She doesn’t believe in doing harm unless it is absolutely necessary, and right up until the very last she was actually against the idea of killing Kilgrave.

She is tough and brave, prone to pushing herself too hard, perhaps because she wants to be not just all that she can be, but more.

So, in conclusion. A strong, opinionated, compassionate, caring, stubborn, pushy, controlling woman who is dealing both with the lingering effects of years of systematic abuse combined with more recent trauma because of everything that happened after Kilgrave’s return.

Abilities/Skills: Trish is a regular human but she has been learning krav maga for a bit more than half a year so she can hold her own pretty well in a fight, though she is far from as capable as someone like a soldier would be. Other than that her skills lie mostly in her media prowess as an actress and radio host, and of course her flawless fashion sense.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Trish’s strengths are her dedication, her courage, her kindness, her ideals and how good she is at conveying those things to other people, inspiring them. Her weaknesses are that she is pushy and controlling. I’m not sure I would call it a weakness that she carries a lot of trauma with her, but it is something that could be exploited for sure.
Items: No items apart from her clothing. Top, pants, socks, shoes, underwear.

So maybe it isn’t her official job on the ship, but Trish is so used to making daily broadcasts that it feels almost like a part of her, and anything that restores some sense of normalcy in this place feels like a good thing to do. So she sends out messages every “morning”, hopefully giving people something pleasant to listen to while they are getting ready for their days, or maybe while they are working. ]

Good… you know guys, I want to say morning but it doesn’t really feel right. Anyway, good artificially created morning to give us all a feeling of time passing in the same way we’re used to. Well, I say “we” but really I have no idea what it’s like where most of you come from. You should tell me! Yes, first point of today’s broadcast, tell me what mornings are like where you’re from.
