My interests range as wildly as my moods so how on earth to create a biographical note that is good from one day to the next. As for how I got here - well, it was the usual story. Fell into circle of fandom known as FK some years back and somehow, someway, we all seem to be making our way here.  Want to know more? I can't think why but OK

A quick run down on my story so far

Born in New York and spent 25 years living there but in between I spent some formative years in Baton Rouge, managed to grow up in Houston and at the moment, I love in the UK. Yeah, I'm clocking some serious frequent flier miles.

Don't recall much about Louisiana beyond a Mardi Gras parade and Hurricane Camille. What can I say? I was small.

I don't know that I would have chosen Houston had anyone asked me at the time, but since, as I say, I was very little, no one did. I'd gotten used to my parents by then, so when they announced that they were moving to Houston, I decided that it would be a real shame to have to train some new ones and I went along. I could not persuade them to leave my younger brother behind (though I tried to point out the increased amount of space we would have in the car without him and/or his things) but to no avail. So off we went to the Lone Star State, Mom Dad, me, my brother and the dog.

Once ensconced in our new digs in Houston, Mom set about finding a way to get me out of the house on a daily basis. Since I was all of five, sending me out to get a job was not an option. Montessori school however, was. Don't worry, this is not a history of my life from Montessori school to now. You had your own angst ridden childhoods, you don't need mine. Houston was not a bad place to grow up but neither was it the most thrilling. This said, it came as a surprise to almost no one that I went out of state to college.

College: in the four years I was there, I came to realize that I would never fully appreciate the open air institution that is SLC. While I had the basic black wardrobe, I did not have a "cause" or the emotionally damaged background.

In real life, I've worked in publishing, web development and ended up (via a stint in telecommunications - good gads what a cesspool that industry is!) tangentially back in publishing working as an indexer. Indexer, i hear you ask? Yes, the person who makes that list in the back of the books. No, a computer doesn't do that. I do. And yes, I have to read the books to do it. Yes, bow down before me and my brilliance. I have found a way to get paid to read.

Oh and because there are only so many indexes and a girl cannot live by indexing alone, I am also a freelance writer.

Ok, so that's how I got here but who is it that we have here?

Let's put the 'personal' in Personal Ephemera: A while back, there was an email Ultimate Survey making the rounds. I've adapted here since I thought it would give a more detailed look at who I am.
  • Bacon Bits or Croutons: Croutons
  • Favorite salad dressing: Ceaser
  • Favorite drink/bar:Screwdriver, Cosmo or Margarita . . . depends on my mood, the bar and the bartender.
  • Favorite color:Green
  • One pillow or two: where'd the other two go?
  • Favorite Movies: Damn this question! OK, Lion in Winter
  • School: usual kinds on the usual schedule. College in particular made me what I am today. For that reason, they shouldn't hold their breath waiting for money
  • Favorite type of music: The Monkees.  So?
  • Hobbies: Reading, collecting pigs, travel
  • What kind of car do you drive? Ford Explorer
  • Dream Car: I don't dream of cars
  • Word or phrases you overuse: "And you are...?"
  • Toothpaste: Crest
  • Favorite foods: herb roasted chicken, really good Mexican food, fried rice
  • Do you get along with your parents: yup
  • Favorite town to chill in: London
  • Favorite ice cream: java chip

  • Favorite TV show: Damn this question too. 24 or West Wing
  • Favorite subject in school: European history - the older the better

  • Most humiliating moment: just one? pass!
  • Craziest person or silliest person you know: Colin
  • The kind of work you do: Indexer
  • Are you an inside or outdoors person? I think I'm both. In the fall I am an outdoors person most definitely
  • What is the craziest job you've ever had?: Working at the Renaissance Festival
  • Best friends on-line/office: the original salon, SunS, Nea
  • Favorite shoes: my beat up black loafers
  • Pets: none but I really really want a dog
Some things friends have said of me:
  • She's a great person and a good friend who lets me talk her ear off when I need to. :)
  • She's probably the person most able to grok my particular madness, and she loves pigs...plus she's the best person I know to go to bars in NYC with.
  • She is my personal Dorothy Parker and the Algonquin Round Table should be resurrected just for her to preside over it.
  • During workdays she (perhaps unknowingly) could routinely mimic Kevin Spacey's character from "Swimming with Sharks"
  • By golly, I'll say several:
    • In the very first days of our acquaintance, this lovely girl tore up a green sweater and made me a Mike Nesmith hat! (which I still have)
    • She's a gifted liar.
    • She has total recall of every line of dialogue she's ever heard.
    • We are, as we've noted so often, the same person.
So that's pretty much me for now - subject to change. More insights or minutia can be found at my website, my Amazon wishlist (in case you are in that generous gift-giving mood or just wondered what I plan or reading, doing next) or peruse this LJ for up to the minute babble.
