The Power of Endowment
A dedicated public servant and Oklahoma icon, Willa D. Johnson had a dream for Oklahoma. The former city councilwoman and Oklahoma County Commissioner dreamed of a recreation center in the community she served in NE OKC, housed at Douglas Park.
While Willa passed shortly before the grand opening, her legacy lives on at the Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center. Partnering with Councilwoman Nikki Nice and the OKC Parks Department, the Foundation matched $50,000 to establish an endowment that removes barriers from entry, ensuring all members of the community are able to enjoy Willa's dream.
Lance Corporal Dale K. Graham’s organization has helped more than 25,000 living veterans file and claim benefits the government has already earmarked for them.
Dance has the power to change lives and inspire people from all racial, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. As a patron of the Oklahoma City Ballet, Mari Cook Medley established the Mari Cook Medley Wellness Fund with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation to ensure dancers are taken care of.

The Westview Boys Home of Hollis, Oklahoma, has been a refuge for boys experiencing crushing life challenges. Donor Ralph Pickle made sure each boy staying at Westview received a card and spending money every year on their birthdays and Christmas – a tradition that carries on even to this day.

Mitchell made it his personal mission in life to make the world a better place. After Mitchell died, his parents created the Scissortail Park Mitchell’s Shade Endowment at OCCF to support an annual tree giveaway that honors loved ones and brings more color into the world.
