PREMISE; about the game

Overdue is a panfandom team based roleplaying game that has a three part 'plot' loosely designed. We are currently in the first part of the plot — The Library at the End of the World.

Characters agree to give aid to a mysterious voice, hand or message and in doing so are pulled into the library. At the library they are assigned a team and participate in contests or events (cooperative and competitive) while trying to figure out the mystery of the library as well as defeat the Darkness.

The current world of Overdue is contained within a singular room and then books that act as portals or pocket dimensions containing multitudes. As a game there is an emphasis on CR building and character growth (positive OR negative). While it is not a scarcity or survival game daily life such as cooking, trading, creating clothes or home-making will be a part of it. Other parts of it will be death games, kissing games, exploration events and whatever gamerunners and mods think of for fun.

Overdue has a powercap. All characters can maintain their canon powers (though any magical items needed to activate canon powers do NOT come default with them, these will have to be earned back) as well as innate physical prowess. However, all of these powers will be tuned back to 30% strength, give or take. For every incredibly overpowered character please be aware that they will be docked an extra amount of strength — essentially a narrative limitation is put into place on them. (There is a slot on the app for players to tell the mods about their characters' OPness and a personalized additional flavor text/cap will be given to these characters).

NOT every fight has to be fair or level ground but there should be some amount of fun or wiggle-room for players. Also any power that solves a problem instantly is either a no-no or will fritz badly in the Library. IE: Can create a portal to teleport back home, the portal teleports people two feet instead. In some ways we are expecting players to police themselves but keep in mind that part of Overdue is about overcoming/trying and attempting, not always succeeding.

Death is not permanent but is consequential. Please try to avoid dying as much as is ICly possible. Please know that if your character dies there will be consequences for everyone in the game and it will trigger a plot! So if you're going to die please ping a mod. The exception to this is death within books can be handled however the event/gamerunner has planned.
